Thiện: Let’s make a start, shall we?

As you know, te aim of the meeting is to dissuss the

festival you have reseached. So student A would you like to make a star

A:
- For me, Edinburgh festival will be a great place.
- The first reason is it’s easy to find accommodation. It takes place in Edinburgh every
August.
- The next reason is the Edinburgh festival has become a world-leading celebration of
arts and cuture. It’s a truly international festival with performers from all over the
world.
- You will be admired a military tatoo (pipe bands) at Edinburgh Castle. You will see it
very beautiful because it is well prepared.
- The last reason make me in favour of Edinburgh festival is you can easily combine
the festival with visits to other places of interest, for example: Loch Ness and the
Orkneys. So you can not only visit the Edinburgh festival but also go to other
beautiful and famous destinatons.
- you can buy tickets for the “fringe” performance on the day. So you don’t have to
book in advance. You won’t need to compete for tickets with anyone.
Thiện: I heard that , Edindurgh as it is too crowed and touristy and accommodation is
expensive is that true?
A: Edinburgh is certainly one of the most expensive cities to visit in the UK, there are ways
that you can save money and it doesn’t really have to be all that expensive. On average you
can expect to spend around £60-105 per person per day but this can vary dramatically based
on your spending habits.
Thiện : Long, what do you think about it?
Long: Actually, i’m not in favour of Belfast. Because there is occasionally some violence
between the different communities.
Although that,Belfast’s also a great festival.
-the first one:There’re world-famous acts in small venues with
comedy,music,art,dance,theatre.
-In addition, the irish have a great tradition of hospitality. It’s been going for nearly 50 years
-Another reason, the unspoilt coast and countryside offer great opportunities for niche
tourism(rock-climbing,cycling,bird-watching)
-the 4th reason:a tour can be easily combined with other destinations in northern ireland and
ancient monument
-the most important is that now it’s much safer than and the political situation has improved a
lot
-and the last one is abt transport links. they’re excellent with 3 airports, sea crossing from
Scotland and England, direct rail link to Dublin
A: What I mean is that there is occasionally some violence between the different
communities.
Long: After mounting tensions between Catholic nationalists and Protestant loyalists,
particularly in Belfast and Derry, violence broke out in the late 1960s. After mounting
tensions between Catholic nationalists and Protestant loyalists, particularly in Belfast and
Derry, violence broke out in the late 1960s.
Thiện: Do you have anything to add to this point?
A : I don’t think so
Well, Eisteddfed is an extremely old cultural festivel that provides a national stage for music,
dance, visual arts, original performances, family activities and kind of competions in a
welcoming, fun and unique environment. Welsh chairs are the best in the world. You also
don’t have to varry about transportation. There are long distance buses run from many
English and Welsh town
Long: uh, in my opinion, it is ridiculous to go to the UK and not be able to speak English
A: the welsh language is an integal and important part of the Eisteddfed, but the festival is
much more than a Welsh language event. You don’t need to speak Welsh to get involved amd
make the most of the Eisteddfed’s visit. There are Welsh and bullingual service offered
olmost everywwhere in the area. Welsh is also a small but beautiful country with many
orthers attractions like Snowdonia National park and country Castle.
Thiện: do I take it we are all in a agreement?
Eisteddfod is an ideal place to visit. It have a great selection of cultural entertainment
activities, competions and Modern facilities
I think we are coved everything.
