Individual contributor with superior knowledge and experience in a
specific area of expertise. Is recognized as an industry expert and
contributor in this field. Contributes to the external body of knowledge

Senior professional
Individual contributor and specialist or experienced generalist that is part
of and contributes to the development of new solutions. Has deep
knowledge of the specific discipline or the broader area in which the

Experienced professional
Individual contributor with comprehensive knowledge of the specific
discipline or the broader area in which the position operates. Executes
complex or specialized projects or activities and typically works according
to set principles. Includes positions with team leading responsibilities.
Junior professional
Individual contributor that is fully proficient in applying established
standards. Has a knowledge base acquired from a couple of years of
experience in a particular area. Works independently and may instruct or
coach other professionals.

Cross-functional project manager
Provides the strategic direction and leads strategic and complex
projects with some impact on the overall area. Drives and leads all
aspects of cross functional projects from concept phase to
industrialization. Activities include cost and control and ensuring

timely deliveries. Accountable for making project related decisions.

Management
responsibilities including appraising performance, motivating and inspiring team members and
developing them for future assignments. Roles in this stream lead change and development. It also
includes those who supervise more than one leader. These responsibilities are in addition to the
responsibilities managers may have in leading divisions, functions, departments or geographical
areas; developing policies and practices and implementing business plans. People managed are
typically one level below or lower. Positions in this stream may have technical, design and budget
responsibility.
Function unit leader
Provides the strategic direction and leads the function unit. Directly influences the
development of the function unit’s business strategies within the context of the
function area.
Department leader
Delivers input to function unit strategy and translates the function area strategy into
medium to short-term tactical direction within the department. Provides operational
oversight to drive function unit strategies including the interpretation and
application of relevant policy guidelines. Typically has P&L or budget
accountability.
Team leader
Ensure the day to day operation of a team. Responsible for planning team activities
and tasks of short-term and operational nature. Typically manages 1st level
professionals and support jobs.
