1. Local Transport Details:

While entering in IIT (B.H.U. Campus) premises you are requested to enter from ‘Main
Gate – Gate No. 1’ only and if required you will need to get Security Clearance (Gate
Pass) for your vehicle/auto/taxi etc.

The following guidelines will help you reach the Centre either by road or by Trains/Bus from
the main entry points of the city.

Varanasi is the cultural capital of India and the melting pot of Indian civilization. Varanasi or
Banaras has a well-developed transport network and is well connected to all the major Indian
cities and states by air, road and rail.

A) BY AIR: The approachable airport to the city is Babatpur which is approximately 35 km

away from BHU. One can easily get a direct flight to Varanasi from cities like
Delhi, Agra, Khajurao, Kolkata, Mumbai, Lucknow and Bhubaneshwar airport.
The taxi charges from Airport to BHU Campus are about INR 600/-.

B) BY RAIL: Since Varanasi lies in the heartland of the North Indian plains, it is connected
to major cities of India via rail. There are two railway stations in Varanasi,
Varanasi Cantt. Rly. Station (Junction) and Mughalsarai Rly. Station.

From Varanasi Junction Railway Station to BHU:

BHU Campus is about 10 km. from Varanasi Junction Railway Station. Round the clock
Auto/Taxi services are available from Varanasi Junction Station to BHU (Lanka). The
tentative charges are for reserve auto, Rs.120-150/-, shared auto Rs. 15/- and for taxi, Rs.
300/- to 350/-.

From Varanasi City Railway Station to BHU:

BHU Campus is about 12 km. from Varanasi City Railway Station. Round the clock Auto/Taxi
services are available from Varanasi City Rly. Station to BHU (Lanka). The tentative charges
are for reserve auto INR 150/-, Shared auto Rs. 25/- and for taxi, INR 300/- to 350/-.

From Mughalsarai Railway Station to BHU:

BHU Campus is about 20 km. from Mughalsarai Railway Station. Round the clock Auto/Taxi
services are available from Mughal Sarai Rly. Station to BHU (Lanka). The tentative charges
are for reserve auto INR 200/-, Shared auto Rs. 35/- and for taxi, INR 500/- to 600/-.

C. From Bus Stand

BHU bus stop is actually on a four way with the statue of Mr. Madan Mohan Malviya in the
centre of the four way facing north side. In the South side there is BHU campus and the
road approaching inside it connects IMS BHU, IIT BHU and new Vishwanth temple and
many more departments of BHU.
