1. What are the general characteristics of South America?Extremes abound across the continent of South
America. It is both the world's driest area and home to the largest river in the world (the Amazon) (the Atacama
Desert). The fourth-largest continent, South America, stretches from the Tierra del Fuego archipelago in the south
to the Gulf of Darién in the north.
2. How South American’s culture described?It comprises both high culture (books and high art) and popular
culture (music, folk art, and dance), as well as religion and other traditional traditions. Latin American culture can
be formal or informal and is the expression of the people of Latin America.
3. Why Norte Chico’s civilization in Peru is the oldest civilization in the America?On the fertile Fortaleza Valley on
Peru's north central coast, a city called Huaricanga was established around 1000 years before the first pyramids
were built in Egypt. The Norte Chico, a civilization that lasted for 1300 years, initially settled in this place.
