PRE-USE PROCEDUES
Initial connections and leak test
- Connect regulator to cylinder
- Connect regulator to INOvent®
- Perform high pressure system leak test (regulators)

PURGE AND PERFORMANCE

Assemble equipment pretest equipment
- Complete low range calibration NO, NO2, FiO2
- Regulator should be pressurised, cylinder should be closed.
- Set O2 flow at 15 lpm and set NO ppm to maximum
Set up
Observe the following,
NO gauges go to zero
NO2 value increases (> 0.2 ppm), then decreases to < 1 ppm
Low NO/NO2 pressure alarms activate
Delivery failure alarms activate
- Turn flowmeter to 15 lpm; NO to 20 ppm and wait 3 minutes
Observe the following,
O2 +/- 3% of value
NO2 ppm within acceptable range
NO ppm. within acceptable range

Connect pre-use circuit to the back of the INOvent.

Turn the flowmeter to 15 lpm
Observe the following,
Manual
Float moves to middle of NO flow indicator
Ventilation
NO reading is within acceptable range
System
NO2 Max is 0.5 ppm
Check
Turn flowmeter off
Observe the following,
Float drops to the bottom of the flow indicator

 If more than 5 minutes passes before initiation, you must purge the lines again
Connect injector module into the proximal inspiratory limb of the ventilator
Circuit.
Ventilator
Connect the sampling tee into the inspiratory limb of the ventilator circuit
connections
proximal to the patient
Set the NO level to be delivered to the patient and confirm.
Attach the resuscitation bag.
Set alarms NO, FiO2, NO2

Cylinder Complete procedure for changing INOmax cylinder and purge regulator
Change assembly.

Explain what steps you would undertake to address the low nitric oxide ppm
Alarm.
