¡WHAT IS A
TSUNAMI?

A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF
WAVES COMMONLY
CAUSED BY AN
EARTHQUAKE BELOW THE
SEABED.

As tsunamis enter shallower water near land, they increase in

height and can cause countless casualties and property
damage as they reach shore.
TO SURVIVE A TSUNAMI YOU
HAVE TO DO THE FOLLOWING
STEPS:
1.Keep calm and stay in the
safe zone.
2. Stay away from objects that
can fall and windows.
If you are in a car, park and
move away from tall
buildings, tall trees, or poles.
4. If you are in coastal areas,
stay away from the beach,
rivers, streams, swampy
areas or lagoons.
How to be prepared for a tsunami? First,
always remember to have a high shelter
and even more so if you are on the beach,
have provisions, a radio to ask for help,
floats, a water tank instead of revenge
or a tire to burn it and thus call the
attention of rescuers, in turn, it is of
vital importance. have a cell phone and
most importantly be patient and not lose
your calm

tsunami, and teletsunami.

local tsunami
A local tsunami is a tsunami whose source is nearby, and which can
affect coastal areas in a few minutes or less than an hour.

Regional Tsunami
A regional tsunami is a tsunami capable of causing destruction in a
particular geographic region—generally within 1,000 kilometers (621
miles) of Puerto Rico—and affecting coastal areas 1-3 hours after
formation.
