Course Description and Learning Objectives

This course surveys the basic mathematical concepts for economic studies at undergraduate
level. Topics such as calculus, matrix algebra, and optimization will be introduced with economic
applications. At the end of the course, students are expected to grasp the basic mathematical
tools and use them in the study of economics and econometrics.

Course Assessment Details

There will be one quiz in class before the recess week. Problem sets will be posted on eLearn
and will be graded based on efforts. There will be no make-up quiz. Students who miss the quiz
with valid reasons will be allowed to transfer the weight to the final exam.

inform students of which classes, if any, will be conducted as part of this EPTL initiative.
