Elements of a Story
7th Grade English students independently read an adapted
version of Treasure Island. Students utilized this classic tale to
write summaries of the book identifying elements of a story:
characters, setting, rising action, climax, falling action, and
resolution. The author of our class novel, The Wednesday Wars,
makes references to events from Treasure Island throughout the
book. Knowledge of Treasure Island makes the allusions
complete.
 The Adventures of Jim Hawkins

Treasure island is a book written by Lisa Norby. Treasure Island is a story about a guy

named Jim Hawkins who wants to find the buried treasure of a old pirate. In the rising action, a

bunch of pirates come looking for the treasure map and Jim Hawkins takes it. Jim Hawkins and a

few others hire Long John Silver and his crew not knowing they were pirates. They join Long

John and his crew on a voyage to find the treasure. Some crazy events happen on the voyage; a

few guys were killed, and Jim Hawkins was almost killed. He got into a fight and killed a pirate.

When they arrive at Treasure Island, they thought the ghost of Ben Gunn was there, someone

was just playing a trick on them. They ran into other pirates and got into a fight. In the climax of

the story, Jim Hawkins eventually found all the treasure. The falling action occurs when Long

John quickly escapes. The resolution is that the courageous Jim Hawkins enjoys his found

treasure. Jim and his friends were able to take it with them, and everyone got their fair share.
 Treasure Island

named Jim Hawkins who lives in England and goes on a trip to Treasure Island with Long John

Silver. Everyone wants the gold. Dr. Livesey, Squire, and Jim go on a long voyage with Long

John Silver and his pirate crew to look for hidden treasure. Then, Jim, Long John Silver, Dr.

Livesey, and the others find the treasure rejoicingly. Next, Long John Silver escapes swiftly.

Finally, Jim and Dr. Livesey kept the treasure and go home safely. However, there is still silver in

the third red X on the map.

Hispaniola and Treasure Island. Everyone wants treasure so they can become rich. The

adventurous young Jim Hawkins and his friends go on the Hispaniola on a long journey to

Treasure Island to look for treasure. Everyone happily rejoiced when they found the treasure. The

sneaky Long John Silver escapes swiftly. The young Jim said, “There were three X’s, and two

have been found. There are guns in one, gold in the other one, but those have been found. The

last one has silver.” However, Jim said that he will never ever go back to Treasure Island for

anything, no matter what, because it could be costly to his life.

 The Great Adventure

Treasure Island is a book about a boy who finds a treasure map and goes on a great

adventure to find the treasure with pirates. It takes place on an island called Treasure Island and

on a boat called the Hispaniola. The problem is that everyone wants the treasure. The main

character is Jim. He is a boy who lives with his parents, and his parents own an inn. One day a

man named Billy Bones goes to the inn and has a heart attack and dies. Jim finds Billy Bones’

map and goes on a great adventure with a pirate whose name is Long John Silver, but he is a

crook. They find the island and the treasure. Long John Silver tries to kill everyone. Long John,

however, fails and has to escape, but Jim and the other crew members leave the island and live

happily ever after.

 Treasure Summary Island

Treasure Island is a story about a boy called Jim Hawkins, a very nice boy who lives with

his mom and dad, but sadly his dad dies so he stays with his mom. One day, a blind man comes

to look for Billy Bones who was staying at Hawkin’s inn. However, Billy Bones died of a heart

attack. The blind man was looking for a map that lead to Treasure Island. Jim then told the doctor

about the map he had found and the doctor told the squire. Then the squire, doctor, and Jim

planned to go to the island, so they bought a boat called Hispaniola. On the boat, there was Long

John Silver who said he used to be in the navy but actually was a pirate who'd worked with Billy

Bones and the blind man. They get to the island, but Jim heard Long John Silver and his helper

Dick talk about how they were going to take over the ship and kill everyone. Finally they see

land, and Jim immediately told the squire what Long John was planning to do. It didn't really

turn out the way Long John had planned because before he knew it, one of the helpers went from

Long John’s side to the squire’s side. Both sides started a battle against each other. Long John

attacked and then was defended; it was scary. They tricked Long John by saying that the squire

had given up the treasure. Then Jim, the squire, and the doctor get saved, and the pirates look for

the treasure. Long John sneakily stole a bag of money. The end!
 The Fight for the Treasure

Silver sailed on the Hispaniola in search for a treasure that Jim Hawkins had found in Billy

Bones’ treasure chest after Billy died. The conflict is that everyone wants the treasure. During the

journey, Jim tried to grab an apple in a barrel, he fell asleep in the barrel. He woke up because

Long John Silver was talking to a young man named Dick. Long John Silver told Dick that he

was thinking of killing the squire. Dick asked, “When are we going to kill him?”

Then Long John Silver said, “Maybe whenever he shows us the map because we don't

know where the treasure is.” They finally found the treasure happily. They all were super happy,

so they sailed home and brought Ben Gunn, but Ben Gunn helped Long John Silver escape! The

good thing is that in the end, Jim Hawkins is rich! That is the story of the book.
 The Adventure of Jim Hawkins

Treasure Island is about a boy young Jim Hawkins who goes on an adventure of a

lifetime! After his father dies, he leaves his mother behind in search of buried treasure. Everyone

wants this treasure. Jim Hawkins excitedly goes with his friends on the Hispaniola to search for

this tremendous treasure. Without knowing they also take along a pirate, Long John Silver. Once

they get to the island they fight over the map, Jim Hawkins and his friends against Silver and his

pirates. Luckily, Dr. Livesey and the quick-thinking Squire trick Silver into believing they gave

up the treasure. Jim, the squire, and Dr. Livesey get rescued, they leave three very desperate

pirates on the island. Gunn lets Silver escape with a very small bag of gold. Fortunately, the

squire, Dr. Livesey and Jim are set for life. Poor Gunn spends all his treasure but is still very

happy about being rescued.

 The Red X

Treasure Island is an interesting story written by Robert Louis Stevenson. It’s about a kid

named Jim Hawkins and a pirate named Long John Silver. The adventure starts when Jim gets

Billy Bone’s map. When Jim got the map, he told Dr. Livesey and the squire. They go on a pirate

ship named the Hispaniola with Long John Silver and his crew. Jim, Long John Silver, and Dr.

Livesey found Treasure Island. They also found the treasure. They try to get out of there because

Long John Silver betrayed them and tried to kill them. However, they captured Long John Silver,

but somehow he escaped. After the adventure, they all got home safely, and they were rich.

everyone was happy that they found treasure, and everybody was rich. The resolution was that

the young Jim Hawkins enjoys the found treasure happily.

Silver dug up the treasure, there was nothing there because Ben Gunn had already dug it up.

When Jim found the treasure, he happily rejoiced. Long John Silver became their prisoner and

when they left and took a stop, Ben Gunn was so afraid of Long John Silver that Ben let him go.

They all split the treasure and were rich.

other people including a pirate called Long John Silver. They fight with the pirates for survival

and the treasure. Finally, they find the treasure with the help of a man called Ben Gunn and left

behind the pirates, except for Long Jong Silver. Long John Silver was released with a small bag

of gold by Ben Gunn so he did not deal have to with him. The ones who went home were rich.

in a cave on Treasure Island happily. The falling action is when Long John Silver escapes

quickly. The young Jim Hawkins said there is a third big red X, and only two have been found.

There is still silver to find, but it could be very costly to his life.

songs. Long John Silver grabs some of the treasure and escapes quickly. Jim Hawkins lives

happily ever after with the rest of the treasure.
