Describe the innovation life cycle proposed by Abernathy and Utterback (see page 232 of the
text). Does the model provide a useful tool to guide and manage the innovation process? Do

let's start the week by discussing - Does the innovation life cycle model describe the
evolution of the Internet?

I believe it does. For instance Facebook has evolved to communicated with
any and everyone all over the nation and is a huge force behind
communication between people. Because people start to gravitate to a
particular communications means, the technology has to be adjusted in order
to keep up with what people are doing and demanding. People will make
suggestions on "if my phone could do this, my pc could do that" then those
who can manipulate technology will work to provide the demand people are
requesting. Both go hand in hand.

Facebook is a great example of the evolution of the internet. This
social networking channel gave way to a whole new meaning of
communication, advertising, promoting, and just getting a message
across. The demand for technology to be adjusted to "keep up with
the Jones" is extremely important. Another example of this would be
Twitter and Instagram. These two social networking platforms are a
direct example and result of the innovation life cycle and evolution
of the internet.
