Here's an actionable playbook with practical tips for implementing partners to

increase completion rates of the Work in Tech program:

1. Set a completion KPI (absolute numbers) as your Northern Star, not a

recruitment KPI, and plan to have 100% learners recruited by September 30,
2023.
2. Set recruitment targets with deadlines and stick to them. Invite up to 50%
more learners than your target to account for those who won't enroll in the
course.
3. Assume that 30-70% of learners won't complete the program due to various
reasons, and that the average time to complete the course is between 3 and
4 months.
4. Conduct a small pilot before launching a new program or when new to the
program. Allow a time buffer for the pilot as well as for adjustments in your
timeline (1-2 months).
5. Onboard smaller groups of learners in weekly intervals when recruiting large
cohorts. Hire extra staff to accommodate frequent check-ins with smaller
groups and 1:1 support. Invite up to 150% of individuals and create a
waiting list of motivated applicants. Proactively monitor learner activity and
set up a strict removal policy.
6. Choose recruiting methods that work best for your target audience. Offline
reach-out and word-of-mouth work well, especially when partnering with
alumni and mentors. Target social media campaigns to specific subgroups,
share learning stories and testimonials, and leverage role models.
7. Assess essential skills for learner engagement, such as digital literacy,
cognitive skills, and motivation. Use tools like MyDigiskills to help plan,
adjust, and tailor the training support. Design clear online questionnaires
and request video or essay responses to assess motivation. Consider using a
multiple opt-in process to select the most motivated applicants.
8. Be explicit in your campaign and landing page about program curriculum,
learning commitment, recruitment timeline and process, required skills and
motivations, equipment and tools required, deadlines for application,
registration, enrollment, and graduation, support provided, and possible
career paths and roles available after graduation.
9. Host a mandatory info session before inviting learners to Coursera to
reiterate requirements and deep dive into specific challenges of the course
work. Feature practitioners to explain day-to-day responsibilities in certain
roles and leverage WiT alumni as role models and for Q&As. Ensure an
efficient Customer Support team and FAQs to answer any possible questions
from prospects to increase engagement in the program.
10. Make the entry survey completion mandatory during the info session (for
example through QR codes) to ensure turnout and identify challenges early
on.

Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all approach, and circumstances may change.

However, implementing these practical tips can help set you up for success in
increasing completion rates of the Work in Tech program.
