Good morning/afternoon (ewan) classmates.

Today, we are going to demonstrate a simple experiment to learn about different densities.

Start by getting an empty glass then pour some water and food coloring.
Next, pour some syrup.
Finally, fill the glass with oil
Then leave it to settle

These liquids separate into different layers because they have different densities and they don’t
mix.
The syrup has the highest density therefore it sits on the bottom. The oil has the lowest density
so it rises to the top.

Let’s try dropping different objects to see what happens.

If we drop a metal nut, which is really dense, it should sink right to the bottom.
But if we take a grape and drop it in, it sinks through the oil and water but sits on top of the
syrup. This is because the syrup is denser than the grape
Now if we take a plastic bottle cap and drop it in, it sinks through the oil and sits on the water.
And if we take a piece of sponge and drop it in, it sits on top of the oil. As you can see, different
objects sit on top of different liquids because they are less dense than some liquids. This shows
the concept of density with different liquids and objects. Our presentation ends here. Thank you
for listening! :D
