INTERVENTION ACTIVITIES in TLE-9 CARPENTRY (Specialization)

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates an understanding of the concepts and underlying
principles in fabricating formworks by computing the volume of the lumber.
Performance Standard: The learner independently solves problems by computing the volume of the
lumber.
Learning Competencies: Prepare tools, equipment and materials for fabricating formworks according to
job requirements:
Lesson 3. Computation of Board Foot as getting the volume of the lumber.
Learning Objectives: 1. Identify the formula in computing lumbers according to its different sizes.
2. Solve the problem in getting the volume of the lumber.
3. Appreciate the importance of computing the volume of the lumber in daily life
situation.
Learning Activities:

Formula : Bd. ft. = L x W x H (when the length is in foot)

12

: Bd. ft. = L x W x H (when the length is in inches)

12 x 12

: Bd. ft. = (D-4) x L (when getting the volume of the log)

16

Where : L = Length
W = Width
H = Height

Solve the following Problems:

1. Determine the board foot of the 10 pcs. 2” x 3” x 12’ lumber.

2. Ronnie needs to compute the volume of the lumber to be use in installing formworks with the wood
dimensions of 24 pcs. 2” x 3” x 10” lumber for longitudinal Rib-type and 15 pcs. 2” x 2” x 12 lumber for
Perpendicular Rib-type.
3. Determine the volume of the log with a diameter of 24 inches and a length of 6 meters.
