2. Based on the discussion on communication and globalization, elaborate the
following:
a. Characteristics of globalization
- is a social process characterized by the existence of: Global Economic,
Political, Cultural, Linguistics, and Environmental interactions. There are primary
characteristics of Globalization:
 Free trade
 Liberalization
 Connectivity
 Economic Globalization
 Cultural Globalization
 Political Globalization
 Opportunity
 Learning
 Production Advantage
b. Advantages of globalization
 Access to new cultures, new talents, and new market
 Spread of technology and innovation
 Lower product cost
 Higher standards of living
 Increase opportunity
 Create employment opportunity
 Improves communication access
 Helps the developing world progress
c. Effects of globalization in language use and communication
 We can now communicate and educate ourselves more easily thanks to
technology and the internet. As a result, there are less cultural boundaries,
increased cultural awareness, global communities are formed, virtual
engagement occurs, and time zones are reduced. Last but not least,
numerous languages have been endangered or perhaps extinct as a result
of globalization.
3. Identify a country where graduates of your program or field of specialization are in
demand. Research and cite the various cultural modes of communication that a
newly hired employee in that country should remember.

 The Philippines is the country where my program or field of specialization is


in demand. Indirect communication is a different cultural mode that a newly
hired employee in the Philippines may use. Filipinos frequently utilize
indirect communication to avoid losing face and to invoke the greeting "hiya"
on both sides of an exchange. Additionally, they are more aware of their
posture, attitude, and voice tone to convey message and avoid interrupting
others.
4. Identify a country where graduates of your program or field of specialization are in demand.
Research and cite the various cultural modes of communication that a newly hired employee
in that country should remember.
