 Register ware
 Shareware

 Open source
 Demo ware
 Abandon ware

INTRODUCTION

A software license is a legal instrument governing the use or redistribution of software. They are
two (2) primary types of software licenses which are Commercial and Open source
software .Commercial software license requires a fee, while open source is free to use

Register ware

Refers to computer software which requires the user to give personal information, e.g. an email
address, through registration in order to down or use the program. This can be considered as a
type of freeware.

Examples of Register ware:

 Grand Theft Auto which are available for company’s website


 Home Edition of Avast which is distributed for free, but which requires the user to
register for use.

Shareware

The terms shareware (also termed Demo ware) is propriety software that is provided to users
without payment on a trial basis .This is commercial software only available with a purchase of a
license.

Examples of shareware:

 Postcard ware this is similar to shareware it’s distributed by the author on the condition
that users send to the author postcard.
 Nagware this provocative term for shareware that reminds the user to purchase a license.
 Cripple ware this allows user to look at the features of a program without to use it to
generate output.

Freeware

Is software that is available for use at no cost or for an option fee, but usually with a restricted
usage rights.
Examples of freeware:

 Adobe Reader it’s used for viewing, signing, sharing and annotating PDF.
 Skype this software sends instant messages and share files.

Open source

This is a board general type of software license that makes source code available to the general
public with relaxed or non-extent copyright restrictions.

Examples of open source:

 7zip file archive this is free and open source file archive, a utility used to place groups of
files.
 NASA WORLD wind (Virtual Globe Geobrawser this allows application developers to
quickly and easily create interactive visualizations of geographical information.
 Blender 3D graphics editor this is a free software tool set used for creating animated
films, art, 3D printed models and 3D applications.

Demo ware

Demo ware is commercial software for free released in a vision which is limited in one or more
ways. One of the common limitations are restricts or blocks access to an important function as
saving the current document to a project file.

Examples of demoware:

 Adobe software gives access to collection of software used for graphic design and video
editing.
 Corel software this is used to create logos, flexes and brochures and is based on lining.
 Windows OS is used to make it possible to complete all types of everyday tasks.

Abandon ware

This is a computer software that is no longer sold or supported, or whose copyright ownership
maybe unclear for various reasons.
Examples of abandon ware:

 Black and white


 Alien Mindbenders
 Alien Mindbenders.

Conclusion

Without system software we cannot run the computer and without application system we cannot
do the work on the computer. There for running the computer we need software.
