Teacher Leadership Experiences and Future Goals

Leadership Experiences:

1. I have experience working on the science curriculum leadership team, helping to align
curriculum and develop a scope and sequence for grades K-4.

2. I am a part of several teams such as the Faculty Growth Cohort, the Competency Based
Learning team, and the Resident Teacher Cohort. Below are details for each team:

• Faculty Growth Cohort is a team of teachers, administration, students, and

parents. During SSC meetings, all stakeholders are engaged in making decisions
for the school, and responsible for maintaining standards when it comes to core
practices and bringing decisions to the School Board.

• Competency Based Learning Team is a group of teacher and administrators that

work together to rethink how curriculum is delivered. Members of this team
facilitate quarterly meetings where teachers revisit the scope and sequence of
lessons through the lens of competency based learning.

• Resident Teacher Cohort is a group of teachers and administrators that meet

every two weeks to review teaching practices, to explore new methodologies in
teaching, and to discuss best practices in teaching.

Leadership Goals:

1. Short-term goal: I want to engage with my colleagues and be a leader in how to

incorporate culturally responsive teaching practices into the classroom.

• Domain 4c: Supports colleagues’ individual and collective reflection and

professional growth by serving in roles such as mentor, coach, and content
facilitator.

• Proposition 4.2: Teachers Use Feedback and Research to Improve Their Practice
and Positively Impact Student Learning

2. Long-Term Goal: I want to be a reading intervention specialist for students and a

reading coach for teachers. I would like to mentor teachers in how to effectively
incorporate multi-modal teaching strategies into ELA curriculum.

• Domain 4d: Serves as a team leader to harness the skills, expertise, and
knowledge of colleagues to address curricular expectations and student learning
needs.

• Domain 7b: Works with colleagues to identify and use research to advocate for
teaching and learning processes that meet the needs of all students.

• Proposition 3.3: Teachers Value Student Engagement
