COURSE SYLLABUS
Course Description
This module is geared towards equipping students to understand the essence and principles of Human
Computer Interaction and how it relates to other fields of study.
Course Objectives
1. Understand the concept and benefits of HCI in development.
2. Appreciate and demonstrate the understanding of developing tools, techniques and guidelines for use
by system builders.
3. Recognize when principles of good design have been violated and propose alternative designs
Design, implement and evaluate effective and usable graphical computer interfaces.
4. Describe and apply core theories, models and methodologies from the field of HCI.
5. Describe and discuss current research in the field of HCI.

Group Presentation
Class participation is greatly encouraged and can be utilized at instructor discretion to round-up course
grades when and if necessary.

4. End-of-semester examination 70%
Classroom Behaviour
Students are expected to behave in a manner that is professional, business-like and most importantly
conducive to teaching and learning. In this respect students are to note the following:
1. Will not be allowed to write end of semester/trimester exam when absent three (3) consecutive times.
2. Late submission of assignment is not allowed
3. Will not be allowed into the lecture hall five (5) minutes after start of lecture.
4. Mobile phones should not be used during lecture period unless otherwise instructed by the lectuer.
5. Food and beverages are not permitted in the lecture hall.
