TUTORIAL How To Get Minecraft Pi Edition Working! - Raspberry Pi Forums
Hello everyone!
This is just a quick write up of my new video on how to install Minecraft Pi edition! I have no idea how this came out because there has been no
raspberrypiguy1
o^cial release! But I got it working so no hate! Check out my video and channel here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuMVXNTHBbI

1. Open up the terminal and type in this simple line!
wget https://dl.dropbox.com/s/hqk8wsdzlyyujli/minecraft-pi-0.1.tar.gz
2. Wait for that to install and then end it in the ele manager and extract it {like the way in the video!} using Xarchiver!
3. Save the new ele to somewhere like the desktop and then enter the terminal again!
4. Change directory to where you saved it using the 'cd' command... Mines on the desktop so my cd line looks like this {REMEMBER: Yours
might be different depending on where you saved it!}:
cd Desktop
cd mcpi
./minecraft-pi
If you have any problems then please don't voice them here! Go and comment on my video and then I will be sure to reply!

For reasons too boring to mention, I am reliant on mobile broadband and cannot get it reliably working on my Pi.
If I put the .gz ele on a memory stick, how should I install it?
Good work!

Just skip the wget bit! Go straight on to Xarchiver and extract the eles!

I'm sorry but what do you mean? To do API stuff?

I'm so glad that he's having fun! And yes its only in Alpha... When they announce the o^cial version we can all look forward to sheep... Sigh!

The pi alpha contains only creative mode. I'm sure that's why the gz ele is so small. When or if they put in survival mode, you will get to
play with sheep. Posts: 379

Exactly! Sadly, its only in creative at the moment.... But as I said, I think we can look forward to the o^cial release soon! And then we might get
our SHEEP!

I have followed these instructions but when I enter ./minecraft-pi I get the message " failed to add service - already in use?"

It includes instructions on how to use it and Python and Java APIs. There's also a Ruby API on the download page.
Smoother..
Any critters?

It's just creative mode, so no animals were to be expected. There are a couple of new functions in the API - I requested some camera controls
which have appeared, and I assume there's other stuff too.
Probably not the largest update considering the leaked alpha was
minecraft-pi-0.1.1.tar.gz
In release convention the last .1 is not a major update probably released to help determine if there are a few bugs that got missed. But it is an
update from the leaked alpha

For a while, there was a typo in the provided command (there was an extra dot in the elename). Try this:
