Assisted Living Costs in Columbus, Ohio

Genworth Financial’s 2019 Cost of Care Survey shows that the cost of assisted living in Columbus is
$3,945 per month. This is nearly $400 less expensive than the Ohio state average of $4,339 and
$300 less than the national average. The costs of assisted living in different areas throughout the
Buckeye State vary significantly, ranging from $3,500 to $5,000.

Despite being Ohio’s capital and largest city, Columbus is one of the most affordable areas for
assisted living in the state. The least costly areas for assisted living are Cleveland and Youngstown,
both at $3,575 per month, saving seniors $370 compared to Columbus.

The midrange cities for assisted living include Cincinnati, Dayton and Canton, ranging from $4,000 to
$4,500 per month. Seniors opting for these areas can expect to pay around $300 to $600 more than
the cost in Columbus. Ohio’s most expensive city is Toledo at $5,036, which is nearly $1,110 more
than in the state capital. Akron is the second costliest area for assisted living at $4,625, about $700
more expensive than Columbus.
