Staff

The staff is a musical feature that is made up of five


(5) horizontal lines and four (4) spaces.

Names of Lines
and Spaces
The lines and spaces of the staff have particular names. They are
the pitches or tones. A pitch can be high or low.

We can call the lines as EGBDF. You can remember them by


assigning words like EVERY GOOD BOY DOES FINE or EVERY GIRL
BOY DOES FINE. 5th line

We call the spaces as FACE.

F – Clef and G - Clef
The F – Clef or Bass clef is placed at the beginning
of a staff to indicate that the notes are below the
middle C on the keyboard of a piano.
F – Clef
The G – clef or the Treble clef is placed at the beginning
of a staff. It indicates that the notes are above the
middle C on the keyboard of a piano and starts on the
second line.
