Club Notes

Regular Meeting 1200 hours

President Amy Jernigan called Meeting to order: Flag Salute by Rotarian Jerry Smith and Invocation by PPRotarian Gil Boules Table Introductions: Rotarian Dee Fairbanks introduced a happy table of Rotarians, Rotarian Dr. Murphy indicated his table remains PURE, Rotarian John. Loue introduced Bruce Spangler soon to be Member, PP Rotarian Mitch Brown deferred to Rotarian Pittman who proudly introduced our Rotary Youth Exchange Student Bruno Bento Da Silva Arruda from Brazil, Rotarian Toni Ruggle sharing his table with Rotarian Rocky Nolan was protecting the Presidents Bell from the unscrupulous thief of the Bell, as the picture indicates. President Amy passed out the Sign Up sheets: Sept. 10 Saturday Painting Preparations for El Medio Fire Station, Monday Sept 19 Rotar Barbecue No noon meeting dinner only , Monday Sept. 26 No noon Meeting Snack Shack barbecue & Ice Cream Social at our Project Riverbend Park. Dee Fairbanks mentioned the first ever Rotary International (RI) Peace conference by Zones 25 & 26 Nov. 13 in Palm Springs Ghandi grandson will be attending as Keynote speaker, Bill Boyd foundation chair, current RI President Club asked to attend. Announcement: Annual 2nd Oct. Jeremy Bryson Softball tournament fundraiser is scheduled. Bruno Bento Da Silva Arruda, exchanges student from Brazil Recognition: PP Rotarian Bud Tracy Commercial Real Estate offered $20 recognition. Business side Tracy Realty company in operation over 100 years has moved to Oroville and enjoying the new office. Some notable business events: Feather River shopping center deal has closed and new tenants coming. Gold Town Plaza is full and Fresh and Easy will be locating very soon; Oroville Hospital will be using the remaining space. Recognition: Rotarian Candy Grubbs County Clerk recorder busy with all the records for future construction project pending. Enjoying her job and building cabin at Bucks Lake. Mr. Ramsey asked How long as clerk recorder? She graciously answered 24 years young. $20 recognition. Recognition: Rotarian Mike Ramsey was asked to comment on recent picture in paper, he indicated young men getting little to excited which resulted in a shooting and other injuries. $10 recognition Mike Smith was asked for a little comedy for the day which began a story on, Evidently. Thanks Mike we evidently needed the humor. Recognition: Rotarian Sam Chimento was recognized for his organizing work with Student of the Month program for the entire calendar year. It was further announced that Wednesday will be his last continuous First Day of School for 62 years. He received a $10 recognition. Announcement: Rotarian Pittman introduced one of our RYE students Bruno Bento Da Silva Arruda, from Brazil, he lives in Brazila the capital with his parents. He has 2 older sisters and enjoys connecting with his friends on Facebook. He will be attending Oroville High School.
