ORAL HEALTH THROUGH EFFECTIVE USE OF MEDIA IN ELEMENTARY

INTRODUCTION

Dental and oral health is a healthy state ranging from hard tissues to soft tissues in the
oral cavity that allows a person to eat, talk, sing, or interact socially without any disturbances
aesthetics or comfort that can make a person more productive. To maintain this, preventive
promotion of dental and oral health is needed, especially for children.

Before turning to contextual issues handled by medical personnel, of course, it is

necessary to promote dental and oral health. The media that is usually used is in the form of
print media or digital media, but the majority of what is used is digital media because it is
more practical and easier to spread to many people.

Children aged 3 – 6 years in developing countries have a prevalence of caries of 90

percent. This is likely due to the improper brushing method of teeth and the minimal time of
brushing teeth. Therefore, it is necessary to promote dental and oral health through effective
media to appeal to them.

CONTENT

Media that can be used in the promotion of dental and oral health in children, for
example visual, audio, and audio-visual media. Visual media such as flipcharts and booklets
that are able to realize children's views on their dental and oral health, in the form of caries
conditions and their solutions in preventing this. We can find leaflets that can change habits
of attitudes to maintain oral health in children.

CLOSING

From the results of the research that has been stated above, the community needs the
promotion of dental and oral health as a basic thing in maintaining oral health. Elementary
school-aged children need more creative and innovative media that make them interested,
through visual, audio, and audio-visual media to prevent various dental and oral health
problems that occur in the future.
