SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS I

ADDITION

I. OBJECTIVES At the end of one-hour discussion grade 1 pupils are expected to:
- identify the addends and the sum of addition
- learn how to solve addition;
- and answer the following objects and numbers in the activity

II. SUBJECT MATTER A. Topic: Addition


B. Reference: Mathematics Grade 1 and Internet
C. Materials: Charts, Flash cards, White board and pen
D. Values: Accurate counting and Money Management

III. PROCEDURES A. Preparation


1. Greetings
"Good morning student's, please arrange your chairs and seats
properly."

2. Prayer
"Okay class, let's pray first, who wants to lead a prayer?"

(Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy


Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.)

B. Motivation
-The teacher will dance and sing the Chikading-Chikading to the
students

C.Presentation
Now let's discuss what is Addition. When you see the plus sign (+) we
call it addition. Addition is the process of combining two or more
numbers to find the total amount. Let us analyze the problems and
answer them.

Okay kids analyze this problem 1. Let us say Anna's mother gave her 2
pieces of candies and her father gave her 2 candies. How many
candies does Anna have?

2+2 =?

Yes, very good the answer is 4. Okay next problem.

Problem 2. Cristian got 5 scores in test 1 and in test 2 she got 6. What
is the total of her score?

5+6=?

Okay class very good the answer is 11.

Okay students let's proceed to the last problem. Glaiza bought 3


pineapples, 5 watermelons, and 8 oranges for the new year celebration.
How many fruits did Glaiza buy in all?
3+5+8=?

Very good students, the answer is 16.

Okay now I think you understand what addition is and how to solve it.
Let's proceed now to our activity if you really learn something.

D. Performing the Activity


The teacher groups the students into 4 groups. The teacher will present
flashcards and the students will write their answer on a white board and
raise it when the time is up.

E. Generalization

What is 2+7?
What is 3+4+5?
