Attention: This manual is based on standard 70DBS drilling


rig; the field operation should be subject to actual condition!

Drilling Monitoring System

Drilling Monitoring system is applied for recording, displaying, including SQL

Server2005, SimaticNet2005 and DrillingSystems2008. As foreground program,

operate “DrillingSystem2008” to fulfill data storage, realtime data displaying, realtime

query, historical query, trendline formation, by accessing OPC server and database.

The DBS drilling monitoring system mentioned in the following points to

DrillingSystem2008 namely.

Chapter 2 Software Installation


According to running environment, software installation is classified into Drilling

Systems2008 、SQL Server 2005 and Simatic Net2008. Because of long installation

time and difficult configuration, these software have been installed on industrial

computer before delivery; and one set of system recovery disc enclosed, which is

convenient for system reinstallation (use GHOST to recover). Installation instruction

of Drilling Systems 2008 as follows:

After entering installation folder, the following three files can be found, click

“setup.exe”or “setup.msi”to start:

Note: uninstall the former version before installation, otherwise, uninstallation

suggestion will appear. Enter system at the desktop or quick starting bar.

Chapter 3 Specification for the Function and

1. Startup Interface

1.1 Interface Name

Click ‘Drilling System 2008’ shortcut to enter startup screen:

1.2 General Description

This initial interface appears when entering system and includes

login, language setting, unit setting, database operation (backup and

delete manually), database status, OPC status, PLC status, and

system status; as well as displays string weight value for observing

system conveniently.

1.3.2 Exit

“Yes” represents to quit the system; “No” represents not to quit.

1.3.3 Login

Authority setting facilitates the person on wellsite for managing drilling

system. After inputting user name and password, click “Check”, if they

are right, turns to . Different authority: “customer” can

modify current data; “service” has all authority, for professional or

person in charge of commission. If without any authority, still can enter

system, but couldn’t modify data.


 
1.3.4 Language setting

This is to
select system language from Chinese, English, and Russion.

1.3.5 Unit setting

Set unit for system data: metric as default. Partial analogs can be

switches between metric unit and English unit.

1.3.6 Database operation

This is

provided for backup and deletion of current and historical database. If

without enough rights:

Click “Backup database” , if click “Yes”:

bar disappears, backup succeed.

Click “Delete database”: delete all current backup database

backup databases. Such as “2008-08-21 09:58:31-----2008-09-02

17:56:32”means the database from 2008-08-21 09:58:31 to

2008-09-02 17:56:32, after choosing, clicking “Delete” to delete

database permanently, therefore, please operate carefully.

1.3.7 Database status

1.3.8 String weight indicator

String weight indicator shows current

string weight and WOB; there has four

layers, inside two layers indicate string

weight, outside two layers as WOB:

white (metric), yellow (English).

1.3.9 OPC status

OPC status icon displays current running condition of OPC server;

: normal; otherwise, test will be operated:

Status icon displays current running condition of PLC: : normal;

otherwise, test will be operated, icon displaying all


the time means PLC connection failure, which need operator to check

network connection, PLC address, etc.

1.3.11 SQL status

Status icon displays current running condition of SQL: : normal;

otherwise, test will be operated, SQL server still cannot work after 2mins:

, this icon means SQL server failure, which need to be repaired.

It displays as two statuses:

2.2 General Description for Interface

There includes three parts: the upper title column, middle operating

interface (left: hook height; middle: common parameters, such as string

weight, WOB, hook speed, cathead pressure, pump stroke, torque, voltage;

right: temperature/humidity in VFD house and MCC house and generator

status), bottom switchover icons.

non-activated; if DWA blower, lube pump and lock out running, display green; and if

the alarms happen, all background is red.

There are 4 defaulted trendlines and 900 grids, which can be modified

by user. Display mark of a certain time, 3D graphs, grids, page turning,

and print time setting.

8. Data Query and Historical Trend View

8.1 Interface Name

8.2 General Description

After having queried for all historical data, faults, parameters are

displayed in list form, at most 30 data queried simultaneously. For

historical fault, relevant fault help is convenient for troubleshooting.

8.3 Specification of Interface

“Drilling Data Query” is the most important interface for operating data. It

can be completed three aspects of function: historical data query,

historical fault query and relevant help, and trend view.

8.3.1 Historical Fault Query

Input fault time range to know the fault happened in this range, and click

“Fault query” to start searching. Detailed operations as follows:

The data is backed up per 10 days; therefore it is necessary to

switchover database to query. It is defaulted as current database:

8.3.1.4 Troubleshooting
Faults will be displayed in form: the first list is fault time, the second is

fault description, and the third is help information for fault. Double click

one cell, relevant fault description and help will be showed at the top

8.3.2 Historical data query

All recorded parameter can be queried, the steps are as following:

8.3.2.1 Time selection

The operation of selecting time is same as that of fault query, but the

range is limited, not longer than 3 days.

8.3.2.2 Interval

Set the interval according to time range (unit: second):

1 day:1,10,30,60 ,120,300,600,1200

1-2 days:10,30,60 ,120,300,600,1200,1800

2-3 days:30,60 ,120,300,600,1200,1800

More than 3 days: 60, 1800,3600;

Generate trend of queried historical data for observing, by

8.3.3.1 Trendline generation

In drop-down menu of “select parameters”, choose needed parameter, at

most 4 parameters at one time, and click “OK” to load into trendline

within 1 second. A maximum of 750 data can be loaded on one page,

then click to check up every 750 data.

“OK” to display the 3 time intervals (1). Horizontal girds of current page

(2) is 750 at most

10.3 Specification of interface

10.3.1 Names

Name 1-6 show the Chinese name (2), English name (2), Russian name (2):

As current displaying language, the relevant sequence varies accordingly.

10.3.2 Unit and status

Display whether this parameter can be shown in metric/English unit.

0: displayed current data and only in metric unit; 1: indicates this

parameter with metric and English units.

Status selection: select different status number with colors.

0: current data

1-7: equipment status or alarm
