INTRODUCTION

A. Background
We will discuss "Making flower pots from ceramic waste" in this paper. The purpose of
making flower pots from ceramics is will assemble an object, namely a flower pot that will be
made from ceramic waste. Usually, we can find this ceramic waste during home renovations,
construction, etc. Because these ceramics are leftovers/waste, rather than wasted, we should
make them as certain items or useful items. For example, is like this project, is making flower
pots from ceramic waste.

B. Formulation of the problem

From the background above, the formulation includes:

1. How to make flower pots from ceramics?

2. What materials will be needed when making ceramic flower pots?

3. Why should we use second-hand goods?

C. Purpose
The purpose of making flower pots from ceramic waste is can reduce the remaining waste
that can interfere with human activities. For example, if we litter the disposal of ceramic
waste, several problems can occur, such as human feet can be injured because of their
careless location, become a pile of garbage, and disturb human activities. Therefore, if we can
recycle ceramic waste automatically, we can reduce the negative impact on our lives, and also
we can increase our creativity.

by a clay that has gone through the burning process. So, the main raw material in the
manufacture of ceramic crafts is clay. Ceramics are usually used to support walls or floors. A
flowerpot is a container where flowers or other plants are planted and raised. In the past and
still exist today, flower pots were made of terracotta and now, flower pots are also made of
plastic, wood, stone, or sometimes recycled materials.

Tools and Materials

1. Flowerpot
2. Cement
3. Sand
 4. Water
5. Cement spoon
6. Ceramic waste and
 7. Gloves

B. History
Based on history, ceramics have been known to the people of East Africa since 2.6 million
year ago (Paleolithic Age). But the development of ceramics that spread in most parts of the
world occurred in the Neolithic era or approximately 15 thousand-10 thousand years ago. The
figure who discovered ceramics for the first time was a German, namely John Friedrich
Bottger (1682-1719). Ceramics is a type of product that is made with clay as the main
ingredient, which is formed and burned at a temperature of 600º Celsius to more than 1300º
Celsius, and after that, there is a change like the clay to be stronger.

CLOSING

A. Conclusion
Crafts from ceramic shards are unique, considering their hard shape and sharp enough parts.
It can be seen from the handwork we have done, namely making pots from ceramic waste.
Nowadays, many people also like this craft because the shape is very beautiful and charming.
Ceramic shard crafts also have a great opportunity to be used as an export commodity. Many
foreigners have started to find and get classic crafts, especially from these ceramic shards.

B. Suggestion
This craft can be more useful and have a great benefit for the people. It is hoped that along
with the development of innovation and creativity, students can create a creative craft so that
in the future it can become the basis for developing a creative economy for students.
