revenge.

However, Pip is in love with Estella.
Miss Havisham takes advantage of Pip's visit to drive him to despair.
At the same time, she poses as a victim.
She's a manipulator.
She’s really a villain.

2).

The first character, the baker Mrs Lovett, acts more out of love. Amy Dunne and
Miss Havisham are pervert and manipulators.
Evil characters are fascinating for artists because :
- they are more interesting than good characters.
- we wonder how far they are able to go in evil and immoral actions.
- usually, women have positive roles. However, these three villains are women,
so they are even more fascinating.

3).

Human nature is complex and consists of good and evil.

Our education encourages us to favor the good.
But this does not eliminate our negative part.
And, as in The Tell-Tale Heart, if our negative part is refouled, it will come back
very strongly one day.
We must to find a way to express it, indirectly.
Villains are a way : they serve us to express the negative part that is in us,
through them.
