While singing psalms during night prayer, the author notices different voices - some high, some low, some loud, some soft. Though varied, together they create harmony. Similarly, various tasks in the seminary like sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, and scrubbing chapels differ but all serve the goal of cleanliness. Both singing and cleaning require contributing varied roles to achieve a harmonious whole.

Last night, I was so focused on singing the psalms and
hymns during the night prayer. While singing, I also heard the voices of other brothers; some were in high pitches while others were in lower pitches. Some voices are very broad and low, while others are very high in pitch. Some had different styles as well: one sings very loudly, as if in a solo contest, while others sing in a whisper. Some are somehow out of tune, and some are trying not to be. Although we have different voices and styles, we somehow created harmony and melody. Contrast: We sing in our different voices, and it is necessary to create that harmony. Elaboration to the given example: To maintain the cleanliness of a household, there are different things to do: sweep the floor, wipe the glasses, wash the dishes, put polishers down and scrub the floor, sanitize the bathroom, etc. They are different from each other, but they can all be narrowed down to one concept: cleaning. In the seminary, some will sweep, put down polishing wax, and scrub the hallway while others will brush, rinse, and mop the cubicles inside the restrooms. Some will clean the chapel while others clean the oratory room. Some are sweeping the pathway, while others will clean the open court. All of these are distinct from one another, but they all work toward the same goal: cleanliness. Cpmbination of both: During the prayer, I cannot deny that there are some who did not maintain balance and harmony in singing, which destroys the beauty of it. In the same way, there are some seminarians who do not maintain cleanliness by neglecting to clean their areas. By contributing with different voices, we created a harmonious melody, just as by contributing different work in different areas, we created a harmonious work towards cleanliness.
