PARENTS ORIENTATION ON THE SIMULATION OF DISTANCE

LEARNING AND DISTRIBUTION OF LEARNING PACKETS
NARRATIVE REPORT

Parent’s orientation and distribution of learning packets was held on July 18, 2020 at 9
o’clock in the morning at the BuES gymnasium. Thorough venue preparations were done by the
teaching staff and the non-teaching staff to ensure a Covid-free environment. Social distancing
reminders were posted as well as social distancing floor signages were installed for everyone to
follow. Mr. Joel M. Armas, the hands on Principal gave a final checking of all the necessary things to
make sure everything run smoothly and effectively.

Some parents arrived at the venue earlier than the expected time. There were thirty five
(35) expected parents to come, however only 29 arrived. As the attendees were more than quorum,
Mrs. Erminda España – Assistant to the Principal, the master of ceremony let the orientation start
with an opening prayer lead by Mrs. Lorna C. Luzon and was followed by the singing of the Philippine
National Anthem conducted by Mrs. Linda Fajardo, and the community singing of the Buting
Elementary School Hymn.

Mr. Armas gave an overview of the learning modality for the incoming school year 2020-
2021 for the parents to have a full grasp of the teaching and learning process. Before moving on to
discuss every details of the learning packet, Mrs. Maria Menchie C. Moreno – the MT In-Charge for
Grade Two, orient the parents on their responsibilities before the simulation, during the simulation
and after the simulation process.

Afterwards, Mr. Armas together with Mrs. Maroziel O. Bustamante – the simulation e-class
teacher, Mrs. España and the Grade Two teachers distributed the learning packets to each parent.
Mr. Armas comprehensively discussed every detail of the inclusions of the learning packets starting
with the parent’s checklist to the parent’s evaluation tool.

Parents were given ample time to go over the contents of the learning kit (ecobag) as
stipulated in the checklist making sure the learning packet handed to them was complete. They were
also tasked to carefully check the Self-Learning Module (SLM) list together with the on hand copies
of the SLM’s to make sure all SML’s were available. It was then found out that there were duplicate
modules in a kit and also one kit has an incomplete module.

Class schedule, parent’s consent and the evaluation tool were also given emphasis by Mr.
Armas. Parents were encouraged to give their honest feedback to improve the delivery of the lesson
and the whole process of distance learning.

Moreover, Mrs. Bustamante – the simulation teachers, discussed other matters including
text-based learning and the things that expected to happen in her class during the simulation. She
also discussed the class flow, class schedule, the checking of attendance, how to use the SLM’s and
other useful reminders.
