In this era of unprecedented technological advancements and widely unmonitored

exposure to all types of media, the question whether children should opt a job that is similar to
their parents' jobs or not, is a controversial topic to debate about. Myriads of people strongly
assume that kids must follow their parents' way, while others do not accede to this dimension,
claiming that they should try themselves in other fields. Considering all the pros and cons of this
issue, I am inclined to conclude that children should take jobs that are not related to the ones of
their parents'. My thesis is formed by the considerations which will be stated in the following
paragraphs.
First and foremost, it goes without saying that this helps children concentrate on their
own hobbies and desires for their future. Today many children are more prone to be
independent, to have their own code and discover themselves. They are trying to have the life
that is destined for them, not the one that their parents decided instead of them. In the past,
many parents would force their children to expertise in the same area of study as they did. Not
always did this overlap with the kid's expectations of his life. Unfortunately, this tendency is
apparent now, as well. But children should not take the jobs of their parents, because first, many
want other things, and also they are somehow familiar with the field that their parents have
already studied and work. Now may people complete their jobs from home and children get
acquainted with it. After that, they have the free choice to be either that specialist or something
else. A compelling example of this can be my friend Luiza’s experience: she decided to become
a lawyer but all her ancestors, grandfathers and parents are doctors or biologists. As she did
not like that kind of job and was afraid of blood, she decided to become a specialist that she
desired to be for a while. Contemplating on all of this, children should choose their job
independently from what their parents do for living in order to chase their own dreams and
hobbies..
Furthermore, it is crucial to highlight the fact that it is better for children to have
experience from other fields that they are still unfamiliar with. Knowledge from various fields can
enhance their overall skills and make them closer to the competitive edge. Being exposed to
some techniques and rules from early childhood helps kids memorize all of it as their memory is
not still full or concerned about daily problems. So, they study one thing when they are
teenagers and then study another science or profession when they are young adults. Therefore,
they gain a sea of knowledge from both fields and can work for companies that recruit
specialists from either fields, whereas studying profoundly the arena that one's parents have
studied when being students, will not provide kids with the opportunity to display their actual
inherent knacks that they could have honed while studying other things. Let us take Luiza’s
example for the second time. She was always present when his father was giving prescriptions
to his patients. Luiza would always ask about the composition of the drugs and had phenomenal
memorizing skills. After working as a doctor assistant in the Republic Hospital, now she is a
lawyer at a court and protects the rights of accused people. Hence, taking a job other than your
parents’ is the best decision to reach a competitive edge.
To sum it up, the spectrum of opinions people may entertain regarding the topic of
choosing a job, can be extremely wide. But still, I am against / (for) the original statement, taking
into consideration such factors as / factors such as concentrating on one’s own hobbies and
opening totally new horizons of job perspectives.
