Activity 1: Warm-up (T-Sts interaction) 

Estimated time: 10 minutes 


T gives sts pieces of a puzzle. Sts come to the whiteboard to stick and join the parts to introduce the
topic of the listening activity.

T asks sts questions about the man of the picture.


-Who is he?
-Where was he from?
-Which music genre did he play?
-Do you know any kind of music?
-What is music? Do you think it is a form of art? Why?

Anticipated problem:​ Lack of knowledge about Bob Marley.


Solution:​ Introduce Bob Marley to sts.

 
Activity 2: Pre-listening task (Sts-Sts interaction) 
Estimated time:10 minutes 
T gives sts different images related to people living a distressfull life (a man on the beach relaxing)
and a word with missing letters. T asks sts to discuss the picture. After that, T elicits sts’ ideas to
brainstorm vocabulary on the board to relate the words with previous knowledge.

Later, T shows sts the speaker and asks them: What do you think you will do now? Which activities?

Anticipated problem:​How to cope with the description of a picture and previous knowledge.
Solution: ​Activate schemata in relation to knowledge of Health and Care thematic unit.
 
 
 
Activity 3: While-listening task (Sts-sts interaction). 
Estimated time: 10 minutes. 
T gives sts a worksheet in which they will do some tasks. That worksheet contains parts of the song
‘Three little birds’ by Bob Marley.
Sts listen to the song and fill in the blanks. Then, they match the lines with their final words.

Anticipated problem:​ Background noise.


Solution:​ Play the audio more than twice if necessary, put the speaker in different parts of the classroom.

 
Activity 4: Post-listening task and closure (Sts-Sts interaction). 
Estimated time: 15 minutes 

T asks sts: What is the relationship between the pictures and the lyric of the song? Can you find an
example of what you mentioned in the lyrics? T elicits sts’ opinions.
After reading the lyrics of the song, sts are asked to express their personal opinion into a piece of
writing answering the following questions. T writes the questions on the board.

Reflection: -What is the message of the song?


-What is Bob Marley trying to transmit?
-How can you relate the song to what you have learnt this year?

T writes her reflection on the board to provide an example to sts. ​“In my opinion, living without stress
is the key to happiness”

Anticipated problem:​ Lack of vocabulary. Sts may not remember vocabulary about stress effects and
how to live a long life.
Solution:​ Use the whiteboard to brainstorm ideas about a healthy life.
