Day of the death in

ECUADOR

1. HISTORY
In the past ecuadorians had the
custom of mummifying their dead and
taking them out for a walk through
their villages so that they receive the
blessing of daylight, the luminosity of
the sun god.

2. NOWADAYS
On November 2, the Catholic Church
celebrates the day of the dead and in
the cemeteries, the tombs are
arranged, painted and redecorated

3. TRADITIONAL FOOD
In order to celebrate the deaths
they cook colada morada and
guaguas de pan, used to make
human-shaped bread to
remember the deceased.
