 Sonata/Sonata Allegro Form

A Sonata, by definition, is a musical composition for an instrument soloist with piano

accompaniment. Generally, sonatas are multi-movement works for solo instruments
and piano or for piano alone in contrasting tempos. In sonata allegro form, there are
three main parts (ABA): (A) EXPOSITION, (B) DEVELOPMENT, and (A) RECAPITULATION.

Beethoven. The history of this piece is
that Beethoven dedicated the
'Moonlight' sonata to his 16-year old
lover and student, Giulietta Guicciardi,
whom he had fallen in love with at
around that time. He proposed
marriage to her, but her father forbade
her from marrying him as he was
without rank.
