CHEMISTRY (set 1)

Paper 3
Written Practical Examination
One hour thirty minutes
Answer all question. The time suggested to complete Question 1 and Question 2 is 45 minutes.

1. An experiment is carried out to investigate the rate of reaction between hydrochloric acid and zinc
powder. 50.0 cm3 of 0.2 mol dm-3 hydrochloric acid is added to excess zinc powder. The volume of
hydrogen gas liberated is recorded at 30 seconds intervals.
Figure 1 shows some of the burette readings of the experiment.

Natural Rubber Vulcanised Rubber

* soft Vulcanisation * hard
* less elasticity * more elasticity
* easily damaged by oxidation * withstand oxidation

Refering to the above information, plan a laboratory experiment to compare the elasticity of natural rubber
and vulcanised rubber.
Your planning should include the following aspects,
(a) Statement of problem
(b) All the variables.
(c) Lists of substances and apparatus.
(d) Procedures of the experiment.
