FACEBOOK (META PLATFORMS INC.)

In 2019, the new Facebook logo have

been released. The new design retained its brand
identity but became more streamlined which helps to
avoid any pixelation when enlarging pages. The
logo's creator main goal is to maintain in showing what the company is known for in the most fine-
tune way it can be.
As time passed by there are possible changes that may happen, just like its logo's
evolution. But, if we are going to look at the current Facebook Logo, it has always been and
remains its distinct symbol which keeps its brand to be easily recognized. The Facebook has a
combined logotype. First, is the one with a graphic element- a blue circle with a gradient and
negative space forming a white letter "f". And the second one, is supplemented with a wordmark,
"Facebook". The designer used a modification of the Klavika font.

In the Facebook logo’s evolution, we can recognize that the minor changes occur
only in the shade of color blue, but still uses the
single “f” – the silhouette of a man bent over a
smartphone. It does not have any meaning based
on the designer. Moreover, we should pay
attention on logo’s based which is blue. Mark
Zuckerberg is dealing with deuteranopia which
causes for him to not recognized any other color
except blue.

III. Company’s Brief History

Facebook or also known as of today as one of the famous platforms under the Meta
Platform Inc. was founded by Mark Zuckerberg and his college roommates and fellow students at
Harvard University, in particular Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and
Chris Hughes.

The history of Facebook has a complicated early story. Originally, in October 28, 2003
it was named as Facemash, an online service where the students can judge their fellow students'
attractiveness. It began at Harvard University. But, during the 2003 story of Facebook there were
no universal online Facebook (Facemash) at Harvard. Mark Zuckerberg violated university policy
in acquiring resources for the services, which results shutting it down for two days.

Despite what happened, there were 450 people (who voted 22,000 times) flocked to
Facemash. Right after that success, that is when Zuckerberg register to the URL
http://www.thefacebook.com in January 2004. He created the new social network at that address
with his fellow university students Saverin, Moskovitz, and Hughes.

In February 2004, the social network TheFacebook.com have been launched. The
students of Harvard who signed off for the service could post their images and personal
information’s such are their University Organizations and class schedules. It reaches a thousand
of people and its popularity increased. Prestigious schools such as Yale and Standford Universities
were also allowed to join. By June 2004 more than 250,000 have signed up from 34 different
schools. Also, MasterCard started paying the site in the same year for its exposure.

This platform became one of the most powerful tools. It has been used in a political
movement during Barack Obama's campaign and became one of the platforms used to promote
ads and communicate. As it keeps on evolving the features also changes right after few years it
have been released.

In February 2012, Facebook filed to become a public company. Its initial public
offering (IPO) in May raised $16 billion, giving it a market value of $102.4 billion. By contrast,
the largest IPO of an Internet company to date was that of the search-engine company Google Inc.,
which had raised $1.9 billion when it went public in 2004. By the end of the first day of the stock’s
trading, Zuckerberg’s holdings were estimated at more than $19 billion (Hall, 2012).

The Facebook's population keeps on increasing as time passed by and as of the 2021
record, there were 2.80 billion users. In October 2021 Facebook announced that it was changing
the name of its parent company to Meta Platforms. Facebook's new name is "Meta". According to
Zuckerberg, metaverse is the new way. The new name reflected an emphasis on the “metaverse,”
in which users would interact in virtual reality environments. Meta comes from the Greek word
"beyond" and that is where Facebook is exactly going, to go in beyond.

IV. Organizational Structure at least the Top Executive or Founders

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg, more commonly known as Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg was
born on May 14, 1984 in White Plains, New York, USA. He attended Harvard University but
unfortunately, dropped out. He is the founder, chairman, CEO, and controlling shareholder of
Facebook, which is now a subsidiary of Meta Platforms Inc. He founded Facebook in 2004 and is

world's youngest self-made billionaire. He was also Facebook's first chief technology officer and
later vice president of engineering.

Eduardo Saverin was born on March 19, 1982 in São Paulo, Brazil. He Took Bachelor
of Arts at Harvard university. In addition, He was also a co-founder of Facebook and held the
position of chief financial officer and business manager. However, in 2012 Eduardo Saverin were
fired from Facebook by Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg and Saverin file a lawsuit against each other that
lead Eduardo Saverin to be completely cut off in the company. After all the things happened,
Saverin decided to co-found Aporta in 2010 and with the start of that, his business establishing
career continue.

Andrew McCollum was born in California, U.S in 1983 of September 4th. He also
studied at Harvard University and took BS, MEd (Bachelor of Science on Master of Education).

V. Best Practices

Engage with your audience right on Facebook.

Although it may appear simple, many brands have been observed pasting external links
to Facebook content. So, there is no need to say that you should not expect much engagement in
this case. The Facebook feed ranking algorithm, on the other hand, will promote such posts if you
keep people on the platform and engage with the audience. Any brand must constantly be in the
information field and find new ways to interact with its target audience. So, when creating content
for your Facebook page, make sure to include the following. (1) Fill your visual content with
images, memes, and videos that encourage Facebook interactions. (2) Pose questions and spark
discussions. Even the simplest question can change the mood of the audience. (3) Ask your
followers to share their stories and experience (Natalya, n.d.).

Connect with your followers through Facebook Stories.

According to Natalya (n.d.), Facebook Stories are short collections of user-generated

photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours. The Stories format gained popularity as a result
of the social network Snapchat, which Facebook has been following for the past few months.
Initially, Facebook introduced Instagram Stories. However, stories have grown so popular that
they now appear in Facebook's primary asset. Facebook Stories use the camera on your mobile
device in the Facebook app, allowing you to apply funny filters and add visual geolocation tags to
photos and videos. Publishing Stories on Facebook will enable brands to bypass the Facebook
algorithm and grab the followers’ attention.

Give preference to positive and inspirational content.

Prioritize light and positive content that brings you closer to your subscribers and creates
a welcoming environment. Allow the audience to laugh along with you. Keep in mind that jokes
about specific topics should be avoided. In their pursuit of hype, some brands and bloggers make
mistakes that jeopardize their reputation. If you are concerned that your humor may offend
someone, it is best to keep the joke within the team and come up with another interesting post
(Natalya, n.d.).

6
Leading Innovations, Transforming Lives, Building the Nation
Video content is always a good idea.

The recipe for effective video content marketing is simple. Use various types of video
content to achieve specific objectives. You can use Facebook Live video for streaming from
various events, organize a Q&A session, or introduce a new product. Educational videos are
excellent for demonstrating a solution to a problem or a concept that people in your field encounter
frequently. Use Facebook Stories to invite people to your "home." By putting the team and their
daily tasks in front of the camera, you are able to show the truly human face of your brand and
share values - which always allows people to get one step closer (Natalya, n.d.).

Use Facebook messengers to be in touch with your audience 24/7.

You do not have to be a marketing guru to predict that the deep involvement of modern
users in social media will continue to have a significant impact on the service industry. Bad is the
company whose management sees a one-way communication channel in social networks to
promote goods and services only. Like any other social media platform, Facebook is a powerful
communication channel with the consumer. With the help of Facebook Messenger, you can
promptly answer customer questions, work with loyalty, and resolve any customer-related issues.
Moreover, some brands try to automate the communication process, for example, with the help of
chatbots that help customers automatically answer the most frequent questions. As a result, social
networks and messengers are increasingly used as the primary sales and customer service channel
every year (Natalya, n.d.)

Analyze your Facebook performance.

One of the most critical topics in digital marketing is analytics. It is the area of collecting,
organizing, presenting, and understanding your users’ and customers’ data. This information will
help you draw correct conclusions and make marketing decisions that meet your business goals.
The good news is that Vista Social offers excellent analytics tools – simple, intuitive,
customizable, and fully automated reports that quickly tell you what is working. Gather paid, and
organic insights for one or many Facebook Pages to measure fan growth, analyze engagement, and
track post-performance. You will understand industry averages within one easy-to-use system and
directly compare competitor data to your own (Natalya, n.d.)

VI. Reaction to the Best Practices

We all know that Facebook is a website which allows users, who sign-up for free
profiles, to connect with friends, work colleagues or people they don’t know, online. It allows
users to share pictures, music, videos, and articles, as well as their own thoughts and opinions with
however many people they like.
Facebook's best practices allow us to access all of our needed resources in terms of
social media. For years, Facebook is still the top social media, why? Because they keep improving
their feature or its strategy so that users won't be bored using Facebook app. And this show that
Facebook is no longer just the same Facebook that we have known for years. That Facebook has
everything, we'd like to have in one app, their practices generate and deliver the efficient and
effective applications that users want and need. For example, they have a Facebook market that
allows us to communicate better with our customers and since there are a lot of imitator or fake
accounts nowadays, Facebook provides a verification to easily find and distinguish your business,
and message customers through business page, and even advertise and market their video, no
matter how long it is. With the help of Facebook, individuals now have quick, practical ways to
communicate with others worldwide. Using Facebook, it is convenient way for people to conduct
online research, communicate with others, and complete work tasks. Many individuals do,
however, think that these advantages come with certain drawbacks. Identity theft, fake profiles,
and online predators are just a few of the issues that have given social media a poor name. Social
media is well-liked despite this due to its many benefits and capabilities. Particularly for fostering
a welcoming and enjoyable environment, assisting individuals in strengthening their social
abilities, offering useful information to users so they may learn and broaden their knowledge, and,
most importantly, for fostering the development of meaningful relationships. They create a
comfortable and entertaining atmosphere for people to interact with each other. I think the biggest
advantage of Facebook is the ability to maintain and build relationships in whole new way.

Facebook increases the individual's power by allowing people share whatever they want
and it sublates the contradiction between capitalism and socialism by realizing social resources
shareable. That is the revolutionary significance of Facebook. When ordinary individuals are able
to initiate the broadcast themselves, the people’s power increase. In other words, Facebook is
giving individuals in societies across the world more power relative to social institutions, and that
may well lead to very disruptive changes. Another significance is Facebook changes the cognition
of property, from exclusive to public. As marked at Facebook Principle that “Facebook promotes
openness and transparency by giving individuals greater power to share and connect.” That is to
say, the information and experience on Facebook is shareable so that it ignores the contradiction
between capitalism and socialism. Resources on Facebook can be owned by everyone in the public.
The basic rule is the more you share the more added value of information and experience.
For young people, who have grown up with technology, Facebook was once the most
popular website there is. Those who still use it, use it for social networking. Young people are
natural born multi-taskers, so using Facebook, as with any social networking website, is almost
second nature to many teens. Social networking websites allow young people to experiment with
who they are. They are popular because teens can find their own, uninhibited voice online which
they can share with friends. Some teens feel they can express themselves easier online when
compared to the real world because perhaps they feel the virtual world is more secure.
Facebook is used to help people remain in touch with friends and family, learn about
the world, share and express what matters to them, and stay connected to the people in their lives.
All people must maintain connections with one another. They assist users in finding common
ground, which promotes exposure to fresh perspectives and enhanced knowledge of various issues
Furthermore, what I like about Facebook is that we can easily interact with others, we
don't have to go through a lot of things just to communicate with our loved ones. We don't need to
pretend and just be ourselves without worrying about what others think. And also, I believe that
we used Facebook to have freedom from the things we don't want to say to others and express our
feeling through posting, whether it is video, photos, shared post or even through hashtag. And all
of these is the reason why competitors can't beat Facebook and still remained being the "king of
social media".
