The Legislative Branch

In order to learn about the people who represent you in


Congress, you will be going on a webquest. Follow the
directions and use the links below to help you identify
your representatives, their roles, views on issues, and their
contact information.

The Senate
Use: www.senate.gov and hover over “Senators”.
Click on “Contact”. Select your state from the drop
down menu.

Senator # 1:
Name: Tom Tillis

Political Party: Republican

Click on the Senator's picture. This will take you to their website.

Explore their website for a bit. Look up the issues this Senator stands
for. Choose one you either agree with or think is important and
explain the Senator’s view on it. (You do not have to agree with
the Senator’s point of view).

Return to www.senate.gov. Again, hover over “Senators”. Click on


“Contact”. Select your state from the drop down menu. Now you
will look at the second senator for your state.

Political Party: Republican


Click on the second Senator's name. This will take you to their
website.

Explore their website for a bit. Look up the issues this Senator stands
for. Choose one you either agree with or think is important and
explain the Senator’s view on it. (You do not have to agree with
the Senator’s point of view)

The House of Representatives
Use: www.house.gov and go to the right hand
corner where is says, “Find your Representative”.
Type in the zip code of your school.

Representative for the 10th District


Name: Patrick Mchenry

Political Party: Democrat

Click on the Representative's name. This will take you to their


website.

Explore their website for a bit. Look up the issues the Representative
stands for. Choose one you either agree with or think is important
and explain the Representative's view on it. (You do not have to
agree with the Representative's point of view)

Issue: Congressman McHenry supported increased funding for enforcement efforts to combat
prescription drug abuse and is a member of the Congressional Caucus to Fight
Methamphetamine, which works to stop the use and production of this dangerous drug.
