GE Gemini has created an optional design feature that will allow the A, D, E, or F
compressors to be driven from either end. The figure below shows 1 of a series of 6
D604DT frames that have been produced in the 4th quarter of 2001. Potential applications
for this type of unit are numerous and include:
-Gas Engine on one end and Electric Motor on the Other for Gas vs Electricity Arbitrage
(planned application for first units sold)
-Ability to drive screw compressor or Site Power Alternator off the back-end…note that
the combined Load on the Reciprocating compressor and additional driven equipment can
not exceed the maximum shaft horsepower (i.e, 2400hp for D604DT)

The major parts are completely interchangeable with the current models with the exception of
the crankshaft itself…a second drive end housing is used for the backend cover. The
lubrication accessories normally located on the end housing are provided for separate skid
mounting or mounted on the frame as shown below.

The D604DT model is currently available with frame pricing 5% above the standard frame
and a lead-time of 8 to 10 weeks. All other 2, 4 or 6 throw models can be purchased at 5%
above standard frame pricing with a minimum lead time of 12 weeks and a minimum
order quantity of 4 units for the first order of a given frame.
