Detailed Lesson Plan

In Mathematics VI

I. Objectives:
At the end of the class 100% of the students should be able to learn 75% of the lesson and
be able to:
a. Visualize and describe the different solid figures (M6GE-IIIa-28)
b. Identify the faces vertex and edges of a solid figure. (M6GE-IIIb-30)
c. Display cooperativeness during group activity.

II. Subject Matter:

a. Topic: Solid Figures
b. References: K-12 MELCS 6 p. 224, ecosia.org, https://www.academia.edu
c. Materials: Pictures, real object, flash cards, laptop
d. Values: Active Participation, Cooperation

III. Procedure:
Teacher Activity Students Activity
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer: In the name of Father
Let us stand and pray and the Son and the
Holy Spirit Amen!
2. Greeting: Good Morning Ma’am
Good Morning Children Nana

You may now take your sit Thank you ma’am Nana

3. Checking of Attendance: None Ma’am Nana

Is there any absent today?
Very good!

4. Classroom Management:
Can you please sit properly so we can start our
lesson today!

B. Preparatory Activities:
1. Drill:
Guess who am I? My name is given in the box
below. Oops! Spelling of my name is jumbled up.
Try to identify it from the clues given below and - cylinder
write it in the blank space. - Cube
_________(1) I am a solid with two congruent circular bases - Sphere
that are parallel. - Pyramid
________(2) I am a prism whose all faces are square.
________ (3) Looks like marbles but have no vertex.
________ (4) I am a solid whose base is polygonal and other
faces are triangles.

CLINYDER

Yes Ma’am!
2. Review
Yesterday we differentiate the plane figures to the
solid figures.

(call a student who want to answer the given figures )

Circle the 3D shapes (Solid figure) and Check the 2D shapes Pupils will do the
(Plane figure). boardwork

C. Developmental Activities:

1. Activity
I have here a big box inside of this box has different
shape all you have to do is to pick one shape in this
box and tell to everyone what kind of shape did you Yes Ma’am
pick.

Is that clear?
Cube
So who wants to pick first in my big box? Anyone?

2. Analysis
Can you guess what is our lesson for today?

Very good!

So how we will describe the solid figure?

I have here a box.
(Show them a big box.) Rectangle
yes!

Square
Yes!
What is the shape of the bottom part of a box?
Is it the same with the shape of the top part?
Yes!
What is the shape of the right side of the box?
Does it have with the same shape with the one on
the left side? 6 faces ma’am

Do the back and front sides of the box have the

same shape?
12 edges Ma’am
So how many faces does the box have?

Very good!
8 vertices
How many edges that the box have?

Very good!

How about vertices? How many vertices that the Yes!

box have?
Because it has length
Very good! width and height.

Thus the box has three- dimensional object?

Solid figure has three-
Why yes is your answer? dimensional object if
they have length, width
Very good! and height.

So how we will describe a solid figure?

Very good!

So class this means that This box is a solid figure

called rectangular prism, because of its rectangular
base, has 6 faces, 8 vertices and 12 edges. That
you said a while ago. A Prism is a polyhedron
that has two congruent
So what is prism? parallel faces called
base.
Who wants to read?

(one student will read the definition of a prism)

A Prism is a polyhedron that has two congruent

parallel faces called base.

When we say polyhedron this means a solid figure

whose side are polygon. Each side is called faces.
Two faces that intersect in a line segment is called
an edge. And two edges that intersect in a point is
called a vertex.

(The teacher pointed out where’s the faces edges

Yes Ma’am
and vertex in a box)
When we say two congruent parallel faces called
base, meaning to say two same bases was aligned
in bout side.
Can you follow?

I have here some prism that was named according

to the shape of its base.

faces.

The lateral faces are the faces that join the base of a solid
figure. Always remember that each faces is a polygon.

Is that clear?

I have here another solid figure can you tell me what is the
name of this solid figure?

The figure is a
hexagonal Prism
8 faces
18 edges
12 vertices
This are the clues how will you observe a figure
1. The sides are all polygon
2. The figure is a prism
3. Its base are hexagons
What would be the answer?
How many faces?
How many edges?
How many vertices?

Another prism is pyramid which is also named according to

the shape of its base. Yes Ma’am

Please read the definition of pyramid

(one student will read the definition of the pyramid)

A pyramid is a polyhedron whose base is a polygon and the

lateral faces are triangles.

Meaning to say if the prism has 2 equal bases the pyramid

has only one base but the lateral faces are triangle.
Is that clear?

Here are some example of pyramids that was name according

to the shape of its base.

Square square 4
pyramid

Is that clear?

Can you name the figure? Count the number of faces, edges the figure is a square
and vertices. pyramid
It has 4 faces, 8 edges
and 5 vertices.

This are the clues

1. The lateral faces are all triangles
2. The figure is a pyramid
3. The base is a square
What would be the answer?

Very good!

Other solid figures have curved surfaces

4. .Application
(The class will group into 4 group)
What we should do when doing an activity?
Sphere
