write with a purpose. You will be learning the writing techniques and the
purpose behind these various types of writing. Many different types of writing exist
before your great grandfather was born and up to this time the Digital Age. These
works may vary in tone, genre, and type but as pieces of writing, they have one thing
in common – a purpose.
Writing with a purpose is one of the many writing techniques used by the
author in developing a writing piece or even a speech. You will learn more about
these writing techniques as you go through all the activities. May you find significant

It is now easier than ever to access the internet, whether you use a computer,
phone, or tablet. There is no doubt that many young people spend more and more time

One advantage of the internet is that

Here are three various writing styles lifted from the internet. Read them

. Nations around the world are battling with a major outbreak of a new deadly
virus. The coronavirus, which started in Wuhan, China on 22nd January 2020, has
already killed around 3,000 people around the world. Countries affected include
China, America, the UK, and Italy. It has also spread in many other places like
Pakistan, Japan, Korea, and Thailand. More than 90,000 people infected with the virus
are in hospitals. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that this is a
global health emergency. China has been on lockdown for many weeks and people
have not been to work, school and all public transport has been suspended. In other
countries schools have been closed and people have been told not to travel.
The new coronavirus is suspected to have come from illegally traded materials in
a Wuhan market. The virus mutated and spread from an animal to a human. There
are fears it could mutate and spread further. Scientists say the virus is contagious and
can be passed from person to person through the air. Dr. Linfa Wang, a virologist at
the Duke-National University of Singapore, said the new virus is contagious is in the
same family as SARS, but it’s different from SARS. He said people needed to look for
pneumonia-like symptoms, such as fever cough, and difficulty breathing. Fu Ning, a
36-year-old woman from Beijing, said: <I feel fearful because there’s no cure for the

Earth is a beautiful living planet in the Universe and the common habitat of more
than 7 billion people and millions of species of biodiversity. Our Earth provides us with
food, shelter, and most of our requirements.
Despite the free services provided by the earth to humans, we are not able to pay off
her kindness to us. Rather, we humans are being cruel to our Earth with our selfish
activities. Mahatma Gandhi said, <Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s
needs, but not every man’s greed.=

Every day, we produce tons of degradable and non-degradable waste and throw
it anywhere irresponsibly. Smoke and harmful gases from our homes, vehicles, and
industries are suffocating her. We are disposing of dirty sewage, drainage, and even
chemicals recklessly, although we know that more than 7 billion humans, along with
all plants and animals in this world, rely on water to survive. If we do not care about
saving our water resources, then soon water may be as expensive as PETROL or one-
day people may die due to thirst. We destroy forests for agriculture and settlement. We
build huge buildings, roads, and factories beyond her carrying capacity. The
establishment of nuclear reactors vastly affects the environment and human lives.

Solutions to environmental problems are not impossible for superior creatures like
humans if they are committed. As a youth and global citizen, I too have responsibilities
to my mother earth. My first role in nature is to reduce my carbon footprint via eco-
friendly activities. Then, I will organize a Green Movement along with other energetic
youths to raise awareness in the community about preserving the environment by
introducing the 3R principle (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) of non-degradable wastes.

We, the youth of today, can organize environmental sanitation programs and
forestation programs in barren lands. We can appeal to the government to participate
in creating eco-friendly development policies. We can conduct a symposium about
climate change in schools and colleges to convince the students to conserve natural
resources. And we can protect Mother Earth from destruction by uniting together all
our single efforts towards nature conservation

As online learning becomes more common and more and more resources are
converted to digital form, some people have suggested that public libraries should be
shut down and, in their place, everyone should be given an iPad with an e-reader
subscription.

Proponents of this idea state that it will save local cities and the town’s money
because libraries are expensive to maintain. They also believe it will encourage more
people to read because they won’t have to travel to a library to get a book; they can
simply click on what they want to read and read it from wherever they are. They could

also access more materials because libraries won’t have to buy physical copies of
books; they can simply rent out as many digital copies as they need.

However, it would be a serious mistake to replace libraries with tablets. First,

digital books and resources are associated with less learning and more problems than
print resources. A study was done on tablet versus book reading found that people
read 20-30% slower on tablets, retain 20% less information, and understand 10% less
of what they read compared to people who read the same information in print.
Additionally, staring too long at a screen has been shown to cause numerous health
problems, including blurred vision, dizziness, dry eyes, headaches, and eye strain, at
much higher instances than reading print does. People who use tablets and mobile
devices excessively also have a higher incidence of more serious health issues such as
fibromyalgia, shoulder and back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and muscle strain. I
know that whenever I read from my e-reader for too long, my eyes begin to feel tired
and my neck hurts. We should not add to these problems by giving people, especially
young people, more reasons to look at screens.

Second, it is incredibly narrow-minded to assume that the only service libraries

offer is book lending. Libraries have a multitude of benefits, and many are only
available if the library has a physical location. Some of these benefits include acting
as a quiet study space, giving people a way to converse with their neighbors, holding
classes on a variety of topics, providing jobs, answering patron questions, and keeping
the community connected. People see libraries as a way to connect with others and get
their questions answered, benefits tablets can’t offer nearly as well or as easily.

While replacing libraries with tablets may seem like a simple solution, it would
encourage people to spend even more time looking at digital screens, despite the
myriad issues surrounding them. It would also end access to many of the benefits of
libraries that people have come to rely on. In many areas, libraries are such an
important part of the community network that they could never be replaced by a simple
