This study investigated adding palm fibers at ratios of 0.25% to 1% by weight to traditional adobe bricks to improve their properties. Tests found that bricks with any amount of fiber had higher compressive and tensile strengths than unreinforced bricks. Bricks with 0.25% fiber performed best in compression, while tensile strength increased with higher fiber content. Microscopy revealed fibers enhanced the bricks' microstructure and durability.

adobe bricks, Construction and Building Materials, Volume 325, 2022, 126808, ISSN 0950-0618, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.conbuildmat.2022.126808. (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0950061822004962) Abstract: This study investigates the short- and long-term characteristics of adobe bricks containing palm fibers of different soil weight ratios (0.25 to 1%). Towards this, the compressive strength, tensile strength, and ductility performance of specimens are evaluated while the microstructural characteristics of both the fibers and adobe specimens are investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The findings reveal the superior performance of fiber-reinforced adobe bricks compared to their unreinforced counterparts. In addition, the tensile strength of the adobe bricks rises with increasing the fiber content while the highest compressive strength is found in specimens with 0.25% fiber content.
