Domscheit-Berg wants to delete data (Source: http://www.golem.de/1108/85869.

html) In the dispute over the data, which remained with Daniel Domscheit-Berg, the OpenLeaks founder wants to delete the data under notary supervision. He wanted to protect the sources. The former Wikileaks spokesman wants to permanently delete the data and the associated keys, which he saved on a hard drive under the supervision of his colleagues who want to make an affidavit. Initially it had been said that only the access keys to the data should be destroyed also to prevent rumors that OpenLeaks wanted to publish the data on its platform later on. In his biography the former Wikileaks activist had written that he had taken a hard drive with encrypted data with him in September 2010 after he left as a spokesman for the whistleblower platform since he regarded their servers to be unsafe. Julian Assange then threatened him with a lawsuit. The board member of the CCC, Andy Mller-Maguhn, had tried to mediate the transfer. Domscheit-Berg had then promised to give him the hard drive within two weeks. After almost a year Domscheit-Berg still has the data and Mller-Maguhn is said to have withdrawn his offer to mediate. Domscheit-Berg had repeatedly said that he would only return the hard drive if Wikileaks could ensure the security of the data it contains. Mller-Maguhn had initiated the exclusion process against Domscheit-Berg. Four keys Not only Domscheit-Berg, also other former Wikileaks activists have the four keys for the data that was taken, among them is the so-called architect, the developer of the Wikileaks platform. It should be possible for them to access all data in plain text. Domscheit-Berg has stated that he only has a key for his part of the data. To clear any misunderstandings, Domscheit-Berg and his colleagues now want to destroy not only their keys and do so under oath but also delete all data that was taken under notarial supervision. According to Domscheit-Berg, after his departure Wikileaks had at first not inquired after the data. Wikileaks had only requested the material secured by him end of October 2010, weeks after the shutdown of the servers from which Domscheit-Berg had copied the data. He had then handed over a complete version of the material. In July 2010, a 1.4 GB file with the name Insurance.aes256 had been published. Should Wikileaks get under too much pressure, Assange said at that time, the password would be

released which allows access to the data. Domscheit-Berg said he did not know the contents of this file. Domscheit-Bergs exclusion is not final yet Assange said to Spiegel Editor Holger Stark, he himself had no key to the files. According to Heise Online, Mller-Maguhn wants to prevent the deletion of data. A final decision on the exclusion of Domscheit-Berg from the CCC is currently pending. "There is currently no official statement from the CCC regarding the exclusion of Daniel Domscheit-Berg and OpenLeaks. None of the CCC spokespersons is currently responding to questions on this topic because the internal debate on the decision of the Board is still ongoing said CCC spokeswoman Constanze Kurz.
