Good Communication
Improving your communication skills can benefit your career, education, and personal
life.
Many of us communicate with people every day, whether in person or on the countless
digital platforms available to us. But how much of our communication reaches the audience
or person the way we hoped? Effective communication requires us to be clear and complete
in what we are trying to express.
You might assess the priority level and the type of communication needed. By considering
your audience, practicing active listening, clarifying your communication, and choosing the
right medium or environment, you are well on your way to exercising communication
effectiveness.
Types of communication
There are five types of communication: verbal, non-verbal, written, listening, and visual.
VERBAL COMMUNICATION occurs (окерс) (происходит) when we engage
(вовлечены) in speaking with each other. It can be face-to-face, over the telephone or via
(вая) any social medias. Some verbal engagements are informal, such as chatting with a
friend in the cafe, while others are more formal, such as work meeting. Regardless
(независимо) of the type, it is not just about the words, it is also about the complexity
(сложность) of them, how we connect those words together to create a message, as well as
the intonation (pitch (высота), tone (тон), cadence (ритм), etc.) used while speaking. And
when occurring face-to-face they cannot be separated from non-verbal communication.,
NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION What we do, while we speak, often says more than
the actual words. Non-verbal communication includes facial expressions, posture (поза), eye
contact and hand movements. For example, if you’re engaged in a conversation with
someone about any idea, it is important to pay attention to both: his words and his non-verbal
communication. Не might be in agreement with your idea verbally, but the nonverbal signs
tell the truth: avoiding eye contact, sighing (саин), scrunched up face, etc.
