Neoliberalism

Neoliberalism is a political system that adopts market capitalism, deregulation, and

reduced government expenditure. It is an approach that encloses both economic and politics and

aims to move financial affairs management from the government sector to the private sector. In

other words, it is a political system that aims at the privatization of economic factors. This is

done by developing policies that promote free working markets and minimize government

spending, government control, and public ownership. The governments try to cut costs on social

programs.

To a greater extent, neoliberalism reduces harm and improves the status of those who are

the most vulnerable and marginalized women, particularly in several ways. For instance, the

Thailand government has formulated inclusive and patriotic policies to realizeits national

economic growth. Women have been integrated fully into these policies at various levels. The

Thai government is focusing on integrating traditional massage services in the tourism industry.

This initiative is placing Thai women in a better position as they dominate in this sector. The

Thai tourism sector is putting much effort into specializing in this service globally by asserting

its women's qualities as naturally servile, hospitable, warm, and essential ideal service providers

(Sunata 18).

Through the women's agency, Thai women have gained economic power from their

involvement in paid labor and as a subordinate part of the labor market, giving them more

freedom and the ability to follow their hearts (Sunata 20). When women leave their homes to

work in urban factories, they find more freedom from family restrictions. Women can also refuse

imposed marriages, and many women have become active members of labor organizations to

advocate for their rights.

Neoliberalism has enabled women's economic activities to be recognized. Unique

women's entrepreneurial organizations link economic empowerment, access to education, credit

for social empowerment, access to quality health care, and proper housing (Mari 66). Besides

that, the adoption of gender budgets has improved the lives of many women. The genderbudgets

try to be fair in gender implications of government expenditure. Many countries adopted gender

budgets after the United Nations Women's conference in Beijing in 1997 (Mari 66). Such

policies have placed women in better positions in society. Many women across the world can

contest for top political positions and even win them. Another strategic development that fosters

women's empowerment is the provision of microcredit that promotes self-development among

women.

Similarly, women's economic activities in Africa inspired the Women's World Banking.

Esther Ecloo, a successful entrepreneur, philanthropist, and industrialist in Ghana, pioneered the

idea of formalizing local women's credit associations. This was to help women acquire funds to

help them improve their economic status. These associations, for instance, have helped many

women rise from poverty lines to successful businesswomen. Women's world banking is an

association that operates in more than forty-five countries globally. Through this bank, women

can save and borrow funds for massive investments. The banks also provide financial advisory

services to their members before any decision of investing. In this aspect, women can rise and

compete fairly in business. r

One way in which women have stood firm against oppressing forces is by participating in

sexual and reproductive health volunteerism. Women have form local organizations like

Volunteer Women's Community Health Workers Organization in Iran, which advocate for

gender justice and push for rights of women in various platforms. The organizations enable the

volunteers to redefine themselves and carryout themselves with increased civic responsibility.

They also initiate social developments by networking and negotiate with the legal authorities on

behalf of other women.

Medical and health tourism in Thailand.

This is a fascinating economic approach. The fact that it achieves more than two

objectives in a single system makes it unique. By implementing this policy, the Thailand

government can provide quality health services to its citizens and foreigners. Thai is also able to

place herself on the global map of tourism. Over and above, she can empower her women.

As the government of Thailand competes to be a leading health tourism destination center

in Asia, she must provide outstanding health care services to her citizens. She must win the faith

of the locals before going for the global market. Thailand puts herself in a better position as she

can advertise her cultures of herbal medicines globally. I want to believe that as health tourism is

developed, women's health care system is also improved substantially.

Thai medical and health tourism system can recognize the value of omen in the society.

They have been perfectly integrated into the system to provide a beautiful image of the tourism

industry. They give super satisfactory air hostess services and body massage to clients. As an

individual, it is my responsibility to support such government initiatives that aims at empowering

women.
