BRIEF SUMMARY OF GODAVARIKHANI 11 INCLINE ( GDK 11)

UNDERGROUND COAL MINING PROJECT

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is operating 5 no’s of coal mines
namely Godavarikhani-1&3 incline coal mining project, Godavarikhani-2&2A incline coal
mining project, Godavarikhani-5 incline coal mining project , Medapalli opencast coal
mining project, and Godavarikhani 11 incline (GDK 11 ) underground coal mining project in
Ramagundem-1 area of Peddapalli District in Telangana State.

GDK-11 incline mine consists of three inclines and two shafts. The three inclines are
connected to No.1 seam. Out of two shafts, one shaft i.e. return air shaft is connected up to
No. 3 seam where main mechanical ventilator is installed and the other i.e. intake shaft is
connected to No. 1 seam only.

GDK 11 Incline is an operating mine in Ramagundam area with a mine take area of
901.13 ha which falls in Pandulapalli Mining Lease and South Godavari Mining Lease.

The Mining Plan of “Deep mining area Ramagundam", was approved earlier vide
Lr.No.13011/1/89-CA, dated 8th August, 1989 by Ministry of Coal, GoI for an extent of
4877 ha. Accordingly, Environmental Clearance for Godavarikhani-11A incline (GDK 11A )
was accorded from MoEF vide letter no J-11015/38/89-IA-II, dated 10th August, 1990 with
a mine take area of 197.00 ha with Road headers and Long wall technology.

In, 2006, the Mining Plan of “Deep mining area Ramagundam", was revised with the
change in reserves, technology & production and named as 1st revision of Mining Plan for
part of Deep mining area of Ramagundam (GDK-11A & Peddampeta shaft Project)”, and
obtained approval vide Lr.No.13016/9/2006-CA-II, dated 12th October, 2006, Ministry of
Coal, GoI.

GDK-11A Incline and Peddampeta Shaft Project are vertically below one another and
planned to share by the same entries. The Mining Plan was prepared for a mine take area
of 725.00 ha with total of No.1 seam and part of No.3 seam (upto 300m depth line) by
existing GDK 11A Incline working with LHD, Blasting Gallery and Continuous Miner
technology for a life of 20 years @ 0.825 Mtpa from 2006-07 and total area of No. 2
seam, No. 3 seam (beyond 300m depth line) & No. 4 seam by the proposed Peddampeta
Shaft Project with Longwall, Road Header and Continuous Miner for life of 32 years @ 1.46
(peak-1.76) MTPA from 2006-07.

Environmental Clearance for Peddampeta Shaft Project was accorded from MoEF vide
letter no J-11015/307/2006-IA-II (M), dated 11th June, 2007 with the rated capacity of
1.459 MTPA with an extent of 725.00 ha with Road header, long wall and continuous miner
technology.

Subsequently With the changed scenario of technology, production schedule mining

Plan (2nd Revision) & Mine Closure Plan of part of Deep mining of Ramagundam was
prepared by combining both GDK 11A Incline and Peddampeta shaft Project by enhancing
the mine take area by 176.13 ha from 725 ha to 901.13 ha. (The enhanced area of 176.13
ha falls partly (i.e, 41.86 ha) in Pandulapalli Mining Lease and remaining (i.e, 134.27 ha)
falls in South Godavari Mining Lease) and renamed as GDK-11 Incline the same was
approved by MoC, GoI vide letter No: 34011-10-2016, dated 17th August, 2016 for the
production capacity of 1.0 MTPA (peak 1.30MTPA).

The reserves up to 310 m depth line of No. 4 seam are identified for future Opencast
Projects and reserves beyond 310 m depth line of No.1, 3, & 4 seam are considered for the
existing GDK 11 Incline underground mine with Continuous Miner technology in No.1
seam, Blasting gallery technology in No.3 seam, LHDs in No. 4 seam

The present proposal for GDK-11 incline is being submitted for obtaining prior
Environmental clearance in accordance with the MoEF&CC, EIA & EMP notification S.O.
1533, dated 14thSep,2006 and and S.O 1530 dated 6th April, 2018 for grant of Terms of
Reference/ Environmental Clearance for expansion of the project. Hence balance
extractable reserves of 38.22 MT( as on 01.04.2015) are estimated for the present
proposal at the rate of 1.00 MPTA (peak-1.3 MPTA) in the mine take area of 901.13 ha
with Continuous miner, Blasting gallery and LHD technology.
