Plant Gene Banks: Genetic Resources Collections,
Conservation and Sustainable Utilization
Jameel M. Al-Khayri, Khaled F.M. Salem,
Shri Mohan Jain, Houda Chennaoui Kourda (Editors)

1 Book Description
This book focuses on different types of conservation, in the natural habitat, in the gene banks,
fields, on-farm conservation, ex-situ conservation, and other methods of conservation. It
illustrates strategies for the conservation of genetic resources and covers various methods of
characterization and evaluation used in the gene banks. It covers the use of traditional and
innovative approaches, toward the improvement and development of gene banks, under an
increasingly limiting environment, loss of arable lands, and genetic erosion. It presents principles,
and concepts of plant genetic resources preservation, genetic diversity and utilization including
the exchange of germplasm policies of gene banks around the world as described in section 5.
Each chapter comprehensively addresses all aspects of a specific gene bank as described in section
6. This reference book is essential for graduate students, researchers, policymakers, and
commercial entrepreneurs concerned with plant germplasm conservation and sustainable
utilization to achieve enhanced agricultural productivity and sustainability of food resources.

2 Manuscript Preparation Instruction

The recommended manuscript length is 12,500 words (equivalent to 25 pages at 500 words per
page). Please refer to the provided manuscript preparation instructions guide and chapter sample
for manuscript formatting including fonts, page setting, subheadings, and references style. Use of
proper English language and correct formatting of manuscripts are essential. Manuscripts
requiring revisions will be returned to the authors for improvement. Set the spell-check proof
language on English U.S.A. when writing begins. The manuscript should contain at least 2 tables
and 3 figures (figures to be inserted within the manuscript and provided as JPG files). When
previously published illustrations (tables, figures) are included, a reproduction permission from
the original publisher is required. The original source should be stated under the illustration within
the legend. Authors are requested to assure that the plagiarism similarity index is below 10%.

3 Complimentary Electronic Book

Contributing authors will be provided a complimentary copy of the electronic book version.

4 Manuscript Due Date

Confirmation of participation is due within 10 days of receiving our invitation.
