ASSIGNMENT NO.1:

1. WHAT IS SELF CONCEPT?


- According to Psychology, self-concept is about the idea of how oneself constructed
or how the individual knew or a belief about himself, for example, he believes that “he
is a good boyfriend”, therefore, what he believes; is self-concept and that concept is
“he is a good boyfriend”. It’s about how you see yourself.
2. WHAT ARE THE THEORIES ON SELF CONCEPT? Give at least 5 theories and
explain each.

3. WHAT ARE THE TWO LEWIS ASPECT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF SELF


CONCEPT? Explain each.

 THE EXISTENTIAL SELF


- Is about the realization that you exist as an individual or your uniqueness
from others. The awareness of your constancy or the sense of being distinct
from others.

 THE CATEGORICAL SELF


- Is about the realization that you exist as an individual with distinct properties
like your color, age, sex, gender and etc. It is the awareness that as you grow
older, you learn that compare to you there are people that are less than or more
than your properties as an individual.

4. WHAT ARE THE THREE ROGERS PARTS OF SELF CONCEPT? Explain each.

 IDEAL SELF
- it is your ideal version of yourself or what you wanted to be. The action of
working hard on yourself to be the vision of what you want to be, for example,
you want to be successful, have a nice job, have a good family and so on, and
for this to happen, you will study hard, develop your attitude and personality to
reach you goal. Also, you wanted to be a good daughter, so you obey your
parents to succeed on your goal.
 SELF-IMAGE
- it shows how you truly are. It refers to how you see your physical self, your
characteristics, personality or your social role. It also shows your real self.

 SELF-ESTEEM
- it is how you value yourself and believe what you have, hence, it can affect
your self-esteem by comparing your strength to others because you might think
that they are better than you or in some way, when you have the confidence to
showcase your personality, you might think that you are better to them.

5. WHAT ARE THE FIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF A FULLY FUNCTIONING PERSON


ACCORDING TO CARL ROGERS? Explain each.

 OPEN TO EXPERIENCE.
- you are open from what comes to you, even if it is positive or negative
emotions, you are learning from it and not avoiding what might the result is.

 EXISTENTIAL LIVING.
- you encounter different experiences that occurs in your life, it is the fact that
you are focusing on what is happening in the present rather to look back on
your past or future life. It is like living at the moment rather living in your past
or moving on to the future.

 TRUST FEELINGS.
- it is to trust your gut to decide what you want to do; it is about how you trust
yourself in making choices or decision in life.

 CREATIVITY.
- is the ability to go out from your comfort zone and be able to take a risk by
adjusting or to seek new experience.

 FULLFILLED LIFE.
- when a person is satisfied to his life and always face challenges and new
experience to have the glow in living.

6. WHAT ARE THE SIX ASPECTS OF SELF-CONCEPT THAT ARE CRITICAL TO THE
POSITIVE SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL ADJUSTMENT OF YOUTH AND
ADOLESCENTS. Explain each.

7. WHAT ARE THE THREE MAJOR CONSTRUCTS IN SOCIAL COGNITIVE THEORY


THAT INTERACT TO INFLUENCE BEHAVIOR. Explain each.
 SELF-EFFICACY
- the belief that an individual has control over and is able to execute a behavior.

 BEHAVIORAL CAPABILITY
- the understanding and having the skill to perform a behavior.

 EXPECTATIONS.
- determining the outcomes of behavior.

8. WHAT ARE THE WAYS TO DEVELOP SELF-LEADERSHIP? At least 300 words.


The ways to develop self-leadership is from working on boosting your confidence,
with this? Your subordinates will follow you because you are making the impact with
your actions. You should become self-aware, always look to be a role model for others,
never do anything by disobeying what you input to them, if you are not following your
order? How does others will follow your words. Ask for feedback to your members, you
are not a boss but a leader who will help them and also, ask thoughtful questions, to
make them fond of you, a true leader guides their members and by that, the members
will think that you are a good leader to follow by setting an actions. Set goals and
track progress to have an improvement with your action. Practice regular reflection to
avoid having conflicts.
