TOPIC 1: ENTERTAINMENT

One of my favorite films is Titanic. I’m a great fan of romantic movies and I`m very keen
on the history of the tragic Titanic. The movie tells the dramatic story of the Titanic with
Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet as the main actors. A film directed by James
Cameron.
In the year 1912 a young poor guy, Leonardo, travels by the gorgeous ship Titanic from
London to New York with a big dream. On board, he meets a fabulous, wealthy girl, Kate
Winslet. He falls in love with her as soon as he sees this gorgeous girl. However, after a
few days the ship hits an enormous iceberg and the tragedy begins to unfold. The Titanic
starts sinking…
The movie Titanic used special effects that were very new at the time of 1995 when it
was produced. These effects have recreated the charming Titanic.
TOPIC 2: SPORTS AND HEALTH
Our generation is much healthier than our parents and grandparents were at our age. This
is demonstrated by the following:
I get exercise about four times a week. I usually go to the gym or play badminton with
my friends.
Also, I have a balanced diet. I eat a variety of foods from all five food groups, but limit
how much sugar, fat, and salt.
However, I have a lot of stress in my life. Financial burden and heavy workload are two
reasons why I get stressed. At such times, I usually give myself a good night's sleep. A
sleep of about seven to nine hours a night not only helps me reduce stress levels but also
have a good health.
What I just said are good habits that we should have. Besides good habits, we need to
avoid bad habits such as smoking, drinking alcohol.
TOPIC 3: FOOD
At the end of a long day, I like to eat traditional Vietnamese food. Sometimes on
weekends, I change my taste by eating outside.
During a meal out, I ate a very delicious dish called Banh Xeo. That's why I want to learn
how to make Banh Xeo.
Banh Xeo is also my favorite dish to eat on special occasions. It is made from flour,
shrimp, pork and bean sprouts. The cake will be cut into three to four pieces, then rolled
with rice balls and herbs and served with dipping sauce. Just take a bite, you will feel its
crispiness, a little sweetness, fat mixed with the cool taste of vegetables and herbs.
I've never eaten unusual food, but I've seen a few people eat it. They eat insects called
Coconut Worms. This worm is eaten raw, dipped with fish sauce. Just thinking about it
made me feel terrible.
TOPIC 4: RIGHT AND WRONG
Nowadays, there is a lot of crime in big cities. Popular crimes such as theft, burglary,
robbery, murder.
There are many reasons for this problem.
Firstly, unemployment is the cause of increasing crime. Many young people migrate to
big cities in search of work, making jobs less and less. Many people will go to any
length, including committing crimes, to earn a livelihood.
In addition, big cities have a lot of social evils such as gambling and drugs. To satisfy
their addiction, these people often rob, even murder.
However, the government can create a DNA database to fight crime in big cities. In
addition, social and cultural activities can help people from different cultures understand
each other. Stricter punishments also make those with criminal motives rethink.
After being released from prison, criminals should have the skills and knowledge to get a
job. In addition, they need to change their thinking and lifestyle so that they don't commit
crimes again.
TOPIC 5: THE NATURAL WORLD
In a human life, many things happen to me. There are five important things that I miss the
most, and if it hadn't happened, my life would have changed a lot.
Firstly, I passed the high school graduation exam. It wouldn't have been memorable if I
hadn't had a fever on the day of the test. Fortunately, I passed. If I had fallen that
important exam, I would have been very disappointed in myself and wouldn’t have been
able to attended my favorite school. Maybe I would have to attended a certain vocational
school and worked very soon.
Secondly, I got a job. This job brought me an income. If I hadn’t had this job, I wouldn't
have the experience and the lovely colleagues.
Thirdly, I met good friends in college. My student life would be very boring and difficult
without these friends.
Fourthly, I have made myself a good habit: read books about 30 minutes before going to
bed. If I hadn’t read books, I would have watched youtube late into the night. That would
weaken my health.
Finally, I went to Ho Chi Minh City. When I first arrived here, I was surprised by the
bustle of the city. I wouldn't have had much of a chance to develop myself if I had stayed
in my hometown.

TOPIC 2: YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE STAR
I have watched a lot of movies since I was a kid, and the actor that left the biggest
impression in my heart is Daniel Radcliffe. Daniel Radcliffe is the famous British actor
who plays in the series Harry Potter. His role as a little wizard Harry Potter had set an
unforgettable mark in the media industry as well as everybody’s heart. After the series, he
did not stop at his successful moment in his career, yet he tried so hard to appear in many
other films and plays. I always follow him in every work, and I realize that practice truly
makes perfect. He goes from a little boy with such innocent acting skills to a well mature
actor with his non-stop effort. He has a strong will in acting and a warm heart in daily
life.
He usually takes part in charity activities and social tasks without mentioning his name in
the articles. His silent work is my inspiration to keep fighting on my dreams, and I will
always look up Daniel as my biggest idol.
TOPIC 3: YOUR FAVORITE SPORT
My favorite sport is swimming.
I first knew about it when I was 10 years old. My mom thought that I should learn to
swim at an early age so that I wouldn’t drown in the water. Frankly speaking, I kinda
enjoyed the swimming class as I guess I was born with the Water element.
Nowadays, I still keep the habit of going to the swimming pool every Saturday afternoon.
Only when I am snowed under a heavy workload do I ever skip a day.
I love this sport for several reasons: First, it helps to keep my body in perfect shape.
Second, swimming is a great sport for me to improve my height. Last but not least, since
I started this sport, I barely feel stressed or overworked. All in all, I suggest this sport is a
must-have pastime for everyone.
TOPIC 4: BENEFITS OF PLAYING SPORT
Playing sports brings a lot of advantages. First, it helps you reduce stress. When you are
physically active your mind gets a chance to unplug from daily stresses and strains of
life. Physical exercise reduces the stress hormones in your body and stimulates the
release of endorphins, which may give you more energy and focus for whatever life has.
Next, sports enables you to build better relationships with people. Through frequent sport
you can get to know a lot about an individual’s personality, their strengths and
weaknesses. Sport with colleagues is a good opportunity to build better relationships and
networks that may help you in your job. Last but not least, it strengthens immune system.
When playing sports, the body is protected from different types of harmful bacteria and
virus. To sum up, people should play sports regularly because it brings lots of
advantages.
TOPIC 5: HOW TO KEEP FIT AND STAY HEATHY
Health and fitness mean a lot to our life, so people find many ways to have a good health.
You should maintain a healthy diet. Healthy foods such as vegetables, fruits, grains, etc.,
are an important part of keeping my body nutrition at its optimum. Exercise offers so
many health benefits. Something like walking for half an hour a day dramatically reduces
the risk of health problems. Exercise can help prevent excess weight gain or help
maintain weight loss. When you engage in physical activity, you burn calories.
Processing fatty and sugary foods don't give the immune-boosting protection that
healthier food does. Sugary foods can decrease immune function. Eat more fruits to get
vitamin C that might help me prevent the common cold, and i will also drink more milk,
this will be help me healthy and stronger to prevent the cold.
TOPIC 6: YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT OUT
Nowadays, there are many other places where you can eat out such as fast food stall,
open-air restaurant… but for me, my favorite place to eat out is the fast food restaurant-
Lotteria. I usually eat in Lotteria in Thu Duc. In the weekend, my best friend and I often
have a lunch there. Lotteria’s menu includes typical fast food items such as hamburgers,
pizza, fried chicken, iced coffee, apple cake… Fried chicken and apple cake are my two
favorite foods. It impresses me with the decoration of the restaurant, the whole restaurant
is painted the red color. On the wall, there are many drawings which are very beautiful
and modern. Customers are usually in rush hour and they come in order to their food and
storm out. They are mainly officials, even students because of price-affordable. If you are
very busy, I think Lotteria is a favorite place to choose to eat out.
TOPIC 7: FOOD IS CONSIDERED HEALTHY FOR THE PEOPLE
Up to now, foods that have received "superfood" label have been unexciting ones like
spinach, garlic, or salmon. Thankfully, now that chocolate has joined that elite group, we
can all relax.
There are many health benefits to eating chocolate on a regular basis. It's packed with
minerals, especially ones such as selenium and zinc, which help fight disease. Chocolate
is also an excellent source of flavanols, chemicals that lower your blood pressure and
help keep your brain healthy.
In addition, chocolate also helps improve your mood. Chocolate provides nutrients and
releases active ingredients to help reduce stress, fatigue, bring comfort and relaxation.
However, modern chocolate is often combined with milk and sugar, increasing its fat
content. Professionals advise that chocolate should be consumed in moderation and only
as part of a healthy diet.
TOPIC 8: YOUR FAVORITE DISH FOR A SPECAIL OCCASION
Banh Chung is one of the favorite dishes that often appear on special occasions.
According to the Vietnamese culture, making Banh Chung is a way to express gratitude
to our ancestors and homeland.
Compared with cooking ordinary food, the process of making Banh Chung is much more
complicated and time-consuming as it requires lots of ingredients and skills. To make
Banh Chung, we need glutinous rice, pork meat, and green beans. Firstly we have to
choose and soak sticky rice in water one night in advance. Rice is wrapped into a square
shape, and the wrapping must be neither tight nor loose. Then Banh Chung will be boiled
for about 12 hours. This is the most memorable part, as we tend to gather around the fire,
chatting and eating snacks the whole night. No matter how modern the world may
become, having Banh Chung with beloved ones still plays an irreplaceable role in the
Vietnamese spiritual life during Tet holidays.
TOPIC 9: HOW TO SURVIVE A DISASTER
The number of natural disasters has increased dramatically in the 21st century. So, having
a few tips can help you stay safe during a disaster.
Firstly, if you have not been ordered to evacuate, stay in a safe area or shelter during a
natural disaster. In your home, a safe area may be a ground floor interior room, closet
or bathroom. Be sure you have access to your survival kit in case you are in an
emergency event that lasts several days.

Secondly, listen to your portable radio for important updates and instructions from
local authorities. Remember to have a battery-powered radio in your survival kit.
Some radios are now equipped with multiple power sources, such as batteries, solar
panels and a hand crank.

Thirdly, if power is lost, use a generator with caution. Make sure conditions are safe
before operating a portable generator. Only operate it outside away from windows,
doors or vents. Follow all manufacturer’s instructions.

Finally, stay in your safe area and do not drive until the danger has passed.  Resist the
temptation to check on your property until you are sure it is safe to do so.
