WAUKESHA COUNTY

OFFICE OF THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE

STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARATION

WHEREAS on February 22, 2023 at approximately 2:30pm an emergency condition occurred,


namely the prediction of continued severe winter weather including dangerous snow, sleet, ice
and freezing rain rendering travel dangerous throughout Waukesha County, Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, the County Executive has the authority to declare an emergency, and thereby close
county facilities or portions of facilities for specified shifts, or for longer periods of time; and

WHEREAS, because of emergency conditions, the County Board is unable to meet with
promptness; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 323.11 of the Wisconsin Statutes it is necessary and expedient
for the health, safety, welfare and good order of the county to proclaim that emergency
conditions exist; and

NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to chapters 323 and 59 of the Wisconsin Statutes, as County
Executive of Waukesha County, Wisconsin, I hereby declare a State of Emergency and proclaim
that until February 22, 2023 at 8:00am or such earlier time as a quorum of the county board
convenes that the following orders shall take effect immediately unless noted otherwise:

• Closure of the Waukesha County Courthouse, county buildings and other government
operations on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 beginning at 2:30pm through
Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 8:00am.

IT IS FURTHER RECOMMENDED AND STONGLY ENCOURAGED that the traveling public


reduce and limit travel throughout the county due to the deterioration of road conditions.
