The NPT-1050 is a future-proof and fully
redundant 1U multiservice packet optical
transport platform optimized for the metro
access aggregation and access nodes.
As a carrier class packet optical transport, it
combines transport network reliability and
ease of management with packet efficiency
and optics scalability in an extremely compact
1RU enclosure. The NPT architecture provides
cost-effective support for mixed packet and
TDM traffic while preserving the existing
network structure and work procedures.
Seamless and cost effective transition from
TDM to packet is achieved by delivering TDM
over Ethernet (CES). MPLS Dual-Stack
(IP/MPLS and MPLS-TP) support guarantees
seamless interworking with IP/MPLS
networks and service optimized selection, per
LSP, between IP/MPLS and MPLS-TP.

Integrated optics support allows the NPT
1050 to work seamlessly with next
generation optical networks, making it a
powerful Packet Optical Access Platform
(POA).
By supporting the most advanced MEF CE2.0
carrier class Ethernet-based services with
high 10GE fanout, the NPT-1050 is well
positioned to support cellular backhaul
transition/ migration from TDM to Ethernet
or for a new build-out of LTE and 4G
networks with enhanced packet
synchronization support. The NPT-1050
supports full triple play services for
residential NGN applications. Its unique
support of utility targeted interfaces and
rugged design make it an ideal solution for
next generation transport networks.
The NPT-1050 is managed by the ECI flagship
unified multilayer NMS - LightSoft®.
