Manual and properly keep it for reference in future.

Foreword
Congratulations,you have selected Fengshang product. This manual contains the
files before the March 2012 model TQSX180(120)×2 stoner technical state.
This Operating Manual should be provided to the personnel in charge of
operation and management of this equipment for reading and use.

Important explanations
A) Acceptance of the goods

A check on appearance should be made immediately when the equipment is


transported to the destination. If it is sure there is any damage caused during
transport, a necessary claim procedure must be taken according to the supply
contract. The repair expense shall be borne by relevant risk undertaker.

B) Storage

The equipment, which cannot be installed in predetermined place immediately,


must be stored in a weatherproof place with facilities against external infringement
in original packages. Any loss arising from storage shall be conducted as per the
Contract.

C) Installation

The equipment shall be installed by the trained technical personnel based on


installation specifications provided together with the equipment.

D) Structure

If several structures are introduced in the documents provided, only the


structures specified in Supply Contract shall be effective. We reserve the right of
improvement before delivery.

E) Startup and commissioning

Startup and commissioning shall only be done by trained personnel. Prior to


startup, the operators shall know the instructions and operation regulations in
provided documents.

F) Copyright

We reserve the copyright of this document and related contents. The receiver
of this Manual shall admit the copyright and shall not provide the document wholly
or partially to the third party without our authorization in writing beforehand, and
shall not use it for other purpose.

G) Accident prevention

The accident prevention rules in related documents must be well known and
strictly obeyed. Our company devotes to manufacturing machinery equipment
according to the latest National Safety Standards. Customers shall tell us the local
safety rules before manufacturing. Additional expenses there from shall be borne
by customers.

H) Maintenance/cleaning

Only professional persons can carry out maintenance and shall well know
relevant stipulations in the documents provided by us. These stipulations are
helpful for keeping the equipment in good condition, reducing wear and prolonging
the service life. Cleaning shall be done according to relevant legal stipulations and
explanations in the documents provided by us.

I) Quality guarantee

We are responsible for the quality guarantee specified in the Contract, but the
precondition is: the real spare parts manufactured by our company shall be
certainly used. Any losses caused by using the spare parts from other
manufacturers shall not be borne by our Group. Any losses caused by improper
operation or disobeying our operation regulations or wrong operation by untrained
personnel shall not be compensated by our Group.

J) Education duty

The leaders of an enterprise owning the equipment from our company shall
have the duty to allow the operators to know the operating instructions, and shall
point out where the especial dangers are during operating these machines.

Safety
A) Personal protection

1. All the mechanical equipments produced by our company are equipped with
safety devices, which are consistent with modern technical level and
universally effective safety rules prior to ex works, so that the customers
can use the machines in accordance with the regulations.

2. The enterprises are obligated to execute following regulations to guarantee


operators' safety.

3. The coupling shield cap must be mounted and closed at any moment. It is very
dangerous to personal safety, if they are open or disassembled. This point is
also applicable for the preventive device of manipulator.

4. The safety limit switches should always be kept in good order. The safety limit
switch may not be overlapped or discarded.

5. The grating cover plate, grid bar or guard grating are usually installed and
delivered together with the machine. They can only be disassembled with tools.
And the machines with such kind of devices can never put into work until the
above-said devices have been properly installed.

6. The driving motor must be switched off completely when carrying out
inspection, commissioning, repair and maintenance. This can be realized
through a full-phase separating and lockable switch installed near the machine
or on the operation desk and control panel on the site. It is not enough only to
screw off the fuse wire!

7. If the machines need other energy like pneumatic, hydraulic, steam and hot
water energy, it is necessary to cut off their energy supply or turn off the switch,
and eliminate the pressure in the internal pipeline system of the machine.

8. As for handling heated or cooled parts and components of the machine,


especial care should still be taken for the danger of burning possibility.

9. If you have pressed the emergency stop switch to stop the machine and you

want to reset the switch, so it is not permissible to only re-press this button to
restart the machine. And the machine can only be started by re-closing the
main switch first.

10. If some machines are equipped with a local shutdown system, especial care
should be taken. Read the instruction manuals attached with the machine
carefully. In such machines with a local shutdown system, temperature will rise
because pressure or vacuum will occur after they have been used for a period.

11. If the operators employed cannot read or write, the owner has the duty to
explain to them clearly where dangers exist and warn them that special
attention should be paid.

12. The cleaning, lubricating and oiling of the machine or its parts and components
may be carried out only when the machine is stopped. If you must climb on or
enter the machine to do such work, the mandatory provisions shall be made
without exception: The power supply of motors must be cut off completely and
the switch must be locked! Attention must be paid to safety measures for
climbing.

13. Be careful, sampling from inside the machine can never be carried out unless
there is not any danger. Usually, the samples can be taken from the pipe under
the machine instead of inside machine.

14. Clear off the deposited dust, dirties and materials frequently. Keeping the
machine clean can enhance production safety and the cleaning level of
workshop, and is also beneficial to dust explosion prevention.

15. If oil (grease) leakage occurs, clean it immediately and seal well the place
where leakage occurs, for oil or grease leaked on the floor will easily bring
about hazards to the operators.

16. In production operation, the machine must be equipped with safety devices,
which may be neither removed and abandoned nor reduced in functions.
Otherwise, we are not responsible for any accidents resulted here from, and
reserve the right to ascertain where the responsibility lies.

17. Please execute the special regulations on accidents prevention in the operating
instructions provided by us.

18. Only the trained professionals are allowed to operate the machine and
equipment manufactured by our company.

19. Measures for environmental protection

If you decide not to use the machine any longer after it is used for a certain
number of years, the measures for environmental protection and reutilization
should be taken: drain the liquids inside the machine (like motor oil, gearbox oil,
brake oil and coolant etc.) into special containers and send them to the
preparation workshop. The plastic parts shall be picked out for reutilization. The
metal parts shall be sorted out so as to be crushed or scraped

B) Explosion protection

1. Common cleaning work


(1) Keeping the working site with combustible dust clean is an important condition
for safe production.
(2) Try not to pile bagged or bulk materials between machines.
(3) In order to reduce dust emission to surrounding areas, all conveying devices,
cyclone separators and dust collectors should be kept in good condition. Especially,
the unsealing phenomena of pipes or top covers should be avoided.
(4) In order to reduce dust explosion hazard, dust everywhere must be cleaned out
frequently and effectively.
(5) Keep all motors free of deposited dust.

2. Frequent inspection and maintenance


(1) Regularly check the safety devices such as speed monitor or the like, at least
once a week.
(2) Check and clean all the magnetic separators regularly, at least once a day.
(3) Inspect and check the functions of main shaft and the bearings of main shaft
regularly, thus to prevent them from heating, at least once a week. And fill

lubricating oil according to the regulations.


3. Electric apparatus
Regularly check the electric apparatus and articles, and special attention
should be paid to the following points:
(1) It is forbidden to use any flashlights and other lamps without shielding or
explosion-proof glass.
(2) It is forbidden to use any lengthened cable or electric furnace.
(3) It is necessary to immediately repair or replace the electric apparatus and
equipment if any failure occurs.
(4) The cables without conduits are not allowed to be installed on the floor.
(5) Cut off the power supply off shift.
(6) An electrician should be assigned to check the insulation of all the lines of electric
network according to relevant regulations on heavy current, at least once a year.

4. Smoking and welding

(1) Smoking is forbidden, which is applicable to all workers and staff of the enterprise
as well as guests, customers, foreigners and drivers visiting the factory.
(2) If the tools such as welding machine or soldering lamp (flame soldering lamp) etc.
are required for repair or installation, do as best as possible to arrange the work in a
special workshop or on a special site.
(3) If it is necessary to carry out welding or the like directly in production area or
storehouse once in a while, written applications must be submitted to a related
supervisor in advance for written approval. The above mentioned operations can be
carried out only when special safety measures have been taken, such as laying
pieces of water soaked canvas or canvas special for covering on the surrounding
area and preparing fire extinguishers. After completion of the operation, the welding
site and the surrounding area are to be monitored at least for 10h. The gas cutting
sparks are very dangerous, for people can't see where they will fly on earth. They
can cross through the narrow clearance of walls and drop downstairs or to the next
rooms, or even fly off 10 m away in distance. If the sparks drop in dusts, fire
accidents may occur at any time.

(4) Welding is prohibited on a running conveyor. If the welding work is necessary,


shut down the machine first, and then make a thorough cleaning and isolate both
sides of the welding site tightly with materials like mineral wool to avoid connecting
with other conveying devices, silos or tanks. If the work is to be done on the chutes
or conveying pipes, it is necessary to disassemble them or divert their lower ends
and seal them to avoid welding sparks entering the conveying pipes or silos.

5. Effect of static electricity


In order to ensure the safety of electric circuits and avoid explosion resulted from
spark discharge, the paint coated at the electric connections must be removed.

1 Application and Adaptability

TQSX180(120)×2 Stoner is mainly used in cereal processing plant for


separating stone with a specific gravity larger than that of cereals from wheat and
paddy, and can also used for separating impurities from other grains.
In order to guarantee the separating effect of the machine, it is necessary to
obey the following requirements:
1. Requirement to materials

2. It cannot separate stone and mud with a volume more than 600 mm3 (about
equivalent to the size of M6 nut), which will be pre-cleaned by a cleaner to be
installed additionally.
3. The wire screen needs to be cleaned regularly (once a week) (if any rice
bran and rice husk adhere to the wire screen, or sieve holes are blocked, so its
separating effect is poor).
Any usage beyond the scope of application should not be regarded as an
application related to the design purpose. For a loss resulted herefrom, the machine
manufacturer will not undertake any responsibility.
The usage relevant to the design purpose refers to that the users should strictly
follow the regulations and instructions in aspects like installation, operation,
inspection and maintenance given in the Operation Manual for usage of this
machine.

3 Description
3.1 Structure

The stoner is composed of a feeding mechanism, an aspirating device, a

vibrating body, a reselection mechanism, an air jet device, vibrating motor, stander
and so on (Fig. 1)
The feeding mechanism includes a material inlet, a feeding flow adjusting plate,
which is connected with the housing through a hosepipe.
The aspirating device is equipped with a negative pressure manometer and an
air volume adjusting gate.
The vibrating body is supported by four groups of rubber springs, and driven by
a vibrating motor, to make a reciprocating rectilinear motion, including a housing
device, a sieve box, a upper and a lower sieve as well as a return air adjusting
mechanism.
The reselection mechanism is mounted at lower part of the sieve box, and an
air jet device provides suspended air flow for materials, so as to separate materials
and stone further.

3.2 Working principle (Fig. 2)

(1) Materials enter from an inlet, and evenly spread out along the width through
a curved surface dispersing plate and then drop down.
(2) Dropping materials are divided into two parts through a dispersing groove,
and then enter the upper stoning wire screen and lower stoning wire screen
respectively to carry out the separation.
(3) Dust and light impurities are brought by negative air flow to a dust collector
for settlement.
(4) According to different characteristics of specific gravity and suspension
velocity, grain and stone of similar size or shape like grain are separated by means
of air flow, which upwards passes the clearance of grain kernels, so as to classify
grain and stone. Stone and other heavy impurities drop down to lower layer and
move to stone outlet under action of a stoning plate.
(5) The Mixture of grain classified by the upper sieve and stone drop into the
stone removing area of the lower sieve, and then flow onto the sieve surface of the
reselection mechanism from the stone outlet of the lower sieve.
(6) The reselection mechanism separates stone from grain by means of
“pressure type” stoning principle, grain enter the stoner again and re-separated,
while stone is discharged from the machine.

3.3 Main features


(1) Characterized by suction type primary selection and pressure type
reselection structures, there will be a part of grain in stone discharged by the primary
selection sieve cover, the mixture of this part of grain and stone will be selected
again by a secondary selection sieve cover. The reselection sieve cover is equipped
with a built-in fan for blowing, so to completely separate stone and grain, und stone

will be collected and discharged from the stone outlet.


(2) Fastened structure, not required to add lubricating oil, the sieve cover is
punched with special stainless steel plate, the sieve body is tight and easily to be
drawn out for cleaning, high output, low maintenance expense and easy of
replacement.
(3) Compact design, small cover area, rational vibration, belt pulley, belt,
eccentric bearings etc. are eliminated from the vibrating device.

5 Transportation
5.1 Hoisting
Prior to hoisting, it is necessary to check whether the hoisting equipment and
rope conform to the weight to be borne or not, and check whether the safeguard
protection plates have been mounted at the places of four rubber springs or not.
(The machine may not be hoisted, when there is yellow paint and no safeguard
protection plates.)
The machine shall be hoisted with four lifting eyes on the equipment stander.
In order to protect the cover from damage, the hoisting method indicated in
following figure can be used (Fig. 5).

It is necessary to protect the stoner from collision damage and rain water
corrosion when it is stored.

6 Installation
6.1 Requirement to installation place
The base of foundation for installation of the machine shall have a sufficient
strength to support the machine weight.
Enough space should be reserved around the machine for future maintenance
and inspection, or a passageway shall be reserved according to Fig. 6 (the indicated
dimensions are all minimum dimensions).

Fix the machine with four M20 foundation bolts, and check with a level meter
check whether longitudinal and transverse directions of the equipment stander are
horizontal or not. When necessary, an iron plate with a proper thickness shall be put
under the base foundation, to ensure leveling-up. For installation holes, TQSX180×2
see Fig. 7, TQSX120×2 see Fig. 8.

6.2 Dismounting of safety parts


The safety parts are used to protect the equipment from damage during
hoisting and transporting, and must be dismounted after the equipment has been
installed and positioned, and then the operation can be started.

6.3 Aspirating system


The stoner needs to equip with an individual aspirating system with a static

pressure of 0.6~0.7 kPa. TQSX180×2 the aspirating air volume of the system is
180 ~210 m3/min and the air pipe diameter is 500 mm, TQSX120×2 the aspirating
air volume of the system is 120 ~140 m3/min and the air pipe diameter is 400 mm.

7 Operation and Adjustment


7.1 Inspection prior to startup
1) Ensure that all the safety parts for hoisting and transporting have been
dismounted (total 4 pieces).
2) Check whether any tool, bolt, nut, iron chips or other sundries are left
behind in the equipment or not, and clean them.
3) Ensure a flat and smooth stoning wire screen, sieve holes without blockage
and correct installing direction.
4) Check the rubber springs whether their status conforms to the requirement in
following figure or not.

5) Check whether the vibrating body is horizontal in transverse direction or not
(i.e. before adjustment, two rubber springs shall have the same height).
6) Ensure that the vibrating motor has been firmly mounted on the vibrating body.

7.2 Idle running


1) Start the motors, confirm whether the rotating direction of the vibrating motors

at both sides is consistent with the direction indicated in following figure or not (rotate
simultaneously in accordance with the direction indicated by full line, or in
accordance with the direction indicated by dotted line).

2) Check whether the vibrating body makes a reciprocating rectilinear motion or


not. If the sieve body jumps, maybe the vibrating motors rotate in wrong directions,
or the eccentric weights of the vibrating motors at both sides have been adjusted
inconsistently.
3) Check whether the vibration amplitude of the vibrating body conforms to the
requirement or not, for the vibration amplitude indication, see Fig. 12.

Loosen the knob, rotate the vibration amplitude indicating board, enabling the
adjusting line to coincide with vibrating direction, now the small circle on the

adjusting line is located on one line. If the double lines indicated by the vibration
amplitude are looked as 3 lines, this just indicates that the vibration amplitude is
accordant with the scale. Under normal condition, the vibration amplitude of 50Hz
power supply is 5mm, and the vibration amplitude of 60Hz power supply is 3.5mm.
4) After shutdown, screw down all the connecting bolts in the vibrating body
again, especially ensure that the tightening torque for locking bolt of the vibrating
motor should reach 170 N • m (17kgf.m).

7.3 Running with load


Start the aspirating fan and the stoner, open the feeding gate, adjust the air
volume and air pressure, enabling the materials to present “boiling” state on the
sieve cover. In the final separating area of the stoning sieve cover, the material
thickness should not be more than 10~15mm, too thick material layer will lead to
not good separation.

7.4 Adjustment of flow rate


The materials shall be distributed evenly along the width direction of the stoning
plate. If the materials are not distributed evenly on the sieve cover, the cause can
refer to the malfunction and troubleshooting in Chapter 9. The flow rate can be
adjusted through the feed inserting plate in Fig. 13 and in conformity to the
requirements in the Technical Parameters. For cleaning paddy, the specific flow rate
shall be controlled at about 60kg/(cm·h), and the stoning efficiency of the equipment
will be reduced when the flow rate is too high or too low. The proper thickness of
grain layer distributed on the sieve cover and the suspension state are the
preconditions for stoning. If the flow rate is too low, so the grain layer will be too thick,
the materials can not press against the sieve cover, and will easily be blown through
by air flow, resulting in uneven distribution of air force on the sieve cover and not
clear separation; if the flow rate is too high, so the grain layer is too thick and the
material suspending effect is poor, resulting in not good layering effect.

7.5 Aspirating of air volume


Whether the aspirating air volume is proper or not, is an important factor for
influence of the stoning result. Under normal conditions, the materials should
present a loose suspension state on the stoning plate, and the material layer cannot
be blown through. This is a proper aspirating air volume and the attention should be
paid to it in adjustment.
The aspirating air volume is adjusted through an air volume adjusting gate, as
shown in Fig. 11. Loosen knob 2 and control the opening degree of the air gate with
an adjusting handle. Readings of the negative pressure manometer are generally
controlled at 0.6~0.7kPa.

7.6 Adjustment of sieve cover inclination angle


The horizontal inclination angle of the stoning plate should be adjusted
according to different material varieties. As shown in Fig. 14, inclination angle of the
sieve body can be adjusted through change of dimension L. For L, see following
Table.

Inclination angle of the sieve cover is related to the content of stone in materials.
If the content of stone is more, the inclination angle can be properly reduced,
contrarily, it shall be increased.

7.7 Adjustment of final separating area


The final separating area is a key part for controlling the content of grains in
stones and very sensitive to adjustment, so it is necessary to carefully operate it.
Only when there is a certain amount of stones collected in the stoning area, it is
possible to remove stones stably. The separating area is equipped with an air return
plate and an air flow adjusting plate, and a satisfied stoning result can be reached
through cooperative adjustment of the both plates, see Fig. 15 and Fig. 16.
If stones contain a lot of grains, the distance between the air return plate and
the wire screen should be reduced, or the distance A between the air flow adjusting
plate and the sieve frame should be increased, so as to increase air volume or air
force and to blow away the grains on the final separating area surface from the stone
outlet; contrarily, if the stones cannot be removed, so the distance between the air
return plate and the wire screen should be enlarged, or the opening of the air flow
adjusting plate should be reduced. Under general conditions, the distance between
the air return plate and the wire screen should be adjusted to 10~15mm, while the

7.8 Adjustment of secondary stoning


When too many materials enter the secondary stoning sieve cover, the air
channel may be blocked, affecting the stoning result. Therefore, a flow rate plate is
set to control materials entering the secondary stoning sieve cover, to keep a stable
flow rate. An individual fan blowing is used for secondary stoning, and the air volume
is controlled by adjustment of the air gate, see Fig. 17.

7.9 Adjustment of vibration amplitude


The vibration amplitude is changed in dependence on coincidence of eccentric
weights at both sides of the vibrating motor. The vibration amplitude of this
equipment under 50Hz power supply is 5mm. if the vibration amplitude is a little high
or low, so it must be adjusted under shut-down state according to following methods,
refer to Fig. 18.
1. Open the cover caps at both sides of the vibrating motor;
2. Loosen the nuts in movable eccentric weights;
3. Rotate the movable eccentric weights to the required positions; (The
positioning pins in movable eccentric weights must fully drop into the pin
holes of fixed eccentric weights.)
4. Screw down the nuts, close the cover caps.
Note: The eccentric weights at both sides of the motor should be adjusted
consistently, and the eccentric weights of the motors at both sides should also be
adjusted consistently.

8 Repair, Maintenance and Inspection

Prior to any repair and maintenance, DO STOP the machine operating,


including fan motor and vibrating motor.

(1) Carefully draw out the upper and lower wire screens and clean them, once a
week. If brown rice residue and rice bran adhere to the upper and lower wire screens,
so their grading ability will be reduced. In order to protect the wire screen surface, it
should be cleaned with soft wiping cloth or compressed air. It is forbidden to clean
the sieve cover with metal brush or other hard tools, so to protect the sieve cover
from deformation or damage.
If the machine is used under dusty environment, it is necessary to clean the
lower wire screen from below with compressed air after the work is finished every
day. (The fan should be cleaned when it is running.)

(2) If brown rice residue, rice bran or other matters adhere to the reselection
grading wire screen, so its grading ability will be reduced, resulting in that grain and
removed stone will be mixed together. Because the wire screen surface has been
treated specially, it should be cleaned with soft wiping cloth.
(3) Check the locking bolts for the vibrating motor:
Because of the counteraction of exciting force, the fixing bolts of the vibrating
motor will be loosened, therefore, it is required to check and screw down them again,
once a day, especially in initial working stage of the machine, and then once a week.
Check whether the tightening torque of the locking bolts for the vibrating motor
reaches 170 N • m (17kgf • m) or not.
