What is the meaning of mammals animal?

mammal, (class Mammalia), any member of the group of vertebrate animals in

which the young are nourished with milk from special mammary glands of the
mother. In addition to these characteristic milk glands, mammals are distinguished by
several other unique features.
-Mammals are a group of vertebrate animals. Examples of mammals include rats, cats, dogs,
deer, monkeys, apes, bats, whales, dolphins, and humans. Figure 6.2 shows some
examples of mammals.

REPTILES
-any of a group of cold-blooded air-breathing vertebrates (as snakes, lizards, turtles, and
alligators) that usually lay eggs and have skin covered with scales or bony plates.
-Reptiles are a class of vertebrates made up mostly of snakes, turtles, lizards, and
crocodilians. These animals are most easily recognized by their dry, scaly skin. Almost all
reptiles are cold-blooded, and most lay eggs—though some, like the boa constrictor, give birth
to live young.

What is a Fish?
Fish and Fishes
Fish are aquatic vertebrate animals that have gills but lack limbs with digits, like fingers
or toes. Recall that vertebrates are animals with internal backbones. Most fish are
streamlined in their general body form.
AMPHIBIAN
The word "amphibian" is derived from the Greek term "amphibios" (amphi = dual or both,
bios = life). Frog is thus, called an amphibian because it typically lives on land but requires
water for fertilization and development.
Amphibians are small vertebrates that need water, or a moist environment, to survive. The
species in this group include frogs, toads, salamanders, and newts. All can breathe and absorb
water through their very thin skin. Amphibians also have special skin glands that produce useful
proteins.
-First, amphibians normally need water to reproduce (although sometimes just dampness or
even mud is enough for certain species!).

Birds are vertebrate animals adapted for flight. Many can also run, jump, swim, and dive.
Some, like penguins, have lost the ability to fly but retained their wings. Birds are found
worldwide and in all habitats

-Suggest that students memorize the initials “WGFB” to assist them in remembering the four
main traits of fish: “Water, Gills, Fins, Backbone.”

-The body of the insect is divided into three regions; head, thorax and abdomen. The thoracic
region has three divisions, in each division, there is an attachment of a pair of legs. Therefore, in
total there are 3 pairs of legs, i.e. an insect has 6 legs.

Warm-blooded animals are defined as animals that can regulate and maintain constant
internal body temperature. They can survive in any temperature range as they can adapt to it
easily. Mammals are the best examples of warm-blooded animals.
Cold-blooded animals can be defined as animals that cannot regulate their internal body
temperature with the change in the environment. They cannot survive in extreme
temperature conditions. Examples of cold-blooded animals are reptiles, fish, etc.
In figure 7.B random mutation occurs in both groups, Mutation is a permanent alteration in the DNA
sequence.

-A gene mutation is a permanent alteration in the DNA sequence that makes up a gene,
such that the sequence differs from what is found in most people.
- if the mutation has a positive affect on the fitness of the offspring, it is called an
adaptation.
