Story
An  ancient  wizzard  is  browsing  his  magic  mirror  in  order  to   evade  sorrow  and
boredom.  The  source  of  his  sorrow  is  chaos  and  the  source  of  his  boredom  is
hopelessness.  One  day,  for  untold  reasons,  he  finds  that  in  present  time  Cluj  a
group  of  youngsters  seem  to  have  discovered  an  antidote  both  to  chaos  and
hopelessness.  He  decides  to  join  them  and  to  put  his  skills  at  their  service.  But,
however  great,  his  spirit’s  nature  is  unseen  and  it  must  remain  so  in  order  to
support   his   magic.   Therefore   he   decides   to   summon   a   dragon   to   serve   his
people  as  a  symbol  of  fearlessness,  wiseness  and  unity.

He  does  so  through  a  tribe  led  by  women,  the  Sarmatians.  Coming  from  Iran
they   rise   above   their   closely   related   Scythians   by   worship   of   fire-‐god   rather
than   nature-‐god.   Women   cut   their   right   breast   in   order   to   develop   battle
right-‐hand  skills  and  their  virginity  is  sealed  until  they  put  three  enemies  down
for  good.  Their  battle  symbol  was  the  sauro,  or  the  magical  dragon.  Addopted
by   this   land’s   people   the   symbol   spread   all   across   the   Roman   Empire
supporting  the  legends  of  King  Arthur  and  Vlad  Dracul.

Many   of   the   Untold   festivalgoers   are   still   unconsciously   in   touch   with   this
dragon   from   fairytales   where   he   usually   guards   the   greatest   imaginable
treasures.
As  the  saying  goes,  be  the  dragon’s  brother  in  order  to  beat  the  dragon.
Courage,   love,   hope,   trust   are   treasure-‐like   concepts   in   your   mind.   In   order   to
truly  achieve  them  you  need  to  step  into  the  story.
Be   a   member   of   your   tribe,   be   the   precious   stone,   be   the   dragon,   be   the
wizzard,  be  yourself.

I.  WHO  ARE  YOU?
The   question   is   summoned   right   from   the   beginning,   in   the   sign-‐up
questionnaire.   Maybe   you   shared   some   details,   maybe   you   mostly   checked
the  untold  option.
We  already  know  you  are  at  least  as  curious  as  we  are,  since  you  are  here  at
the  checkpoint,  ready  to  start  the  adventure,  heading  towards  the  unknown.

II.  (5-‐7  minutes)  LOST.
We  guide  you  by  voice  on  your  phone,  or  we  give  you  a  phone  to  be  guided.
The   area   is   covered   by   telekom   so   the   connection   should   not   be   a   problem.
Let’s   talk   for   a   while.   About   anything.   What’s   your   favourite   topic?   You   see
that   girl   with   a   pink   t-‐shirt?   Can   you   put   her   on   the   phone   for   a   second?   Look
at  that  guy  collecting  plastic  bags.  Can  you  ask  him  what  his  name  is?  Who  am
I?  I  asked  you  first.  I  leave  you  now.  Don’t  feel  lost.  You’re  exactly  where  you
need  to  be.  Look,  that  girl  with  red  hair  seems  lost.  Help  her  find  what  she’s
looking  for.

III.  (5-‐7  minutes)  THE  GIRL.  (can  be  another  participant  or  an  actor)
The  girl  says  she’s  in  an  immersive  theatre  experience  or  something,  looking
for  dragon  stones,  asks  the  participant  if  he/she  is  the  one  she  was  supposed
to  meet,  if  she/he  is  a  knight,  where  can  she  find  the  wizzard,  etc.  Eventually  a
third   character   intervenes,   generating   even   more   confusion.   In   the   end   the
participant  receives  a  map  (or  online  map/app)  and  is  told  to  be  at  a  certain
point   in   5   minutes.   In   order   to   avoid   further   distractions,   the   participant   is
given   a   set   of   headphones   (on   ear)   –   moment   of   silent   disco/or   fake   radio
show   on   a   geology   topic   (stones,   rocks,   academic   discussion   about   balaur
bondoc)

IV.  (5  minutes)  THE  MAZE  (the  participant  reaches  –  based  on  the  given  map  –
the  intrance  of  an  indoor  or  outdoor  maze.  During  the  previous  stage  unseen
actors   will   make   sure   that   the   participants   arrives   safely.   If   any   unexpected
event  occurs,  the  actors  are  improvising  a  corrective  situation.  This  applies  to
all   open-‐space   paths,   making   sure   that   the   participants   feel   lost   but   actually
aren’t)
Hi,  man!  /  Hey,  you!  Whats  up?  Enjoying  the  ride?  You  seem  a  bit  lost,  do  you
want  to  see  what  the  future  holds?
(a   pitoresque   character   meets   the   participant   and   invites   him/her   to   enter   the
first   corridor   of   the   maze   –   a   space   filled   with   random   objects,   and
constrasting  smells  –  incense  sticks  and  domestos,  for  example)
The   clarvoyant   will   choose   his/her   technique   based   on   personal   skills   –   palm
reading,  tarot,  astrology,  etc.
I  see…  you  recently  started  a  new  journey  in  your  life…   you  are  a  curageous
person,   that’s   good   …   but   beware,   people   are   not   what   they   look   like
sometimes  or  who  they  pretend  to  be…  so,  you  are  intersted  in  pottery  …  and
you  really  are  a  hardcore  fan  of  Afrojack  …  no,  this  isnt  one  of  my  clarvoyance
skills,  I  saw  your  profile  on  facebook  …  ok,  what  do  you  think  about  tattoos?
well,   you   have   a   glorious   future   ahead   of   you   but   you   need   one   in   order   to
move   forward   in   your   life….   The   name   Bondoc   rings   any   bells?   No?   Hmm…
strange,  are  you  connected  in  any  way  with  a  dragon?  The  best  news  for  you
is  that  you’re  going  to  meet  the  wizzard  sooner  than  you  might’ve  expected….
But  there’s  something  preventing  you  form  achieving  that  honour  …  A  rock  …
stones   …   dragon   stones!!     …   I   know   exactly   what   you’re   looking   for   …   take
this!   (grabs   a   common   stone   from   the   ground)   Now   move   inside   this   corridor,
it’s  not  that  dark.  Keep  going,  someone  is  coming  already.

V.   (5   minutes)   DRAGON   STONES   (the   participant   finds   another   checkpoint   in
the   maze.   A   geology   professsor   awaits   there   with   the   necessary   technical
equipment   to   properly   study   rocks   –   Ramona   Mureșan   is   an   associate
proffesor  at  Babes-‐Bolyai  University  in  Cluj)
What   stone   do   you   have?   …       So   what   do   you   think   you’re   looking   at?   …
Dragon   stone,   maybe?   What   is   this   one   supposed   to   bring?   Courage?   Love?
Hope?     Trust?   …   Ok,   let   me   see   …   Do   you   want   to   take   a   look?   (Actually
Ramona   brings   some   common   looking   stones   but   under   the   microscope   you
can   see   incredible   fossil   shapes   in   the   stone.   Also   the   theories   about   rocks
migrations,  birth  and  cemeteries   –  Creta  –  are  mindblowing)  well,   guess   what,
not   an   authentic   dragon   stone   this   one   but   you’re   a   lucky   person   …   it   looks
like  there’s  an  actual  dragon  there  …  yes,  inside  this  rock  …  You  really  want  to
go   on   with   this,   it   might   be   really   shocking,   you   know?….   Do   you   know
someone   named   Balaur   Bondoc?   It   looks   like   it   was   summoned   in   your   name,
or   that   you   summoned   …   Yes,   [says   name   of   he   participant]   everybody   here
knows  you  from  facebook.  Here’s  my  card,  in  case  you’ll  need  more  from  me
in  the  future.  Ok,  good  luck  to  you!

VI.  (5  minutes)  BALAUR  BONDOC  (a  misterious  old  person  is  found  next  inside
the   maze.   Water   is   boiling,   smells   like   proper   tea,   photos   are   spread
everywhere,  there’s  even  a  skull  in  sight.  The  person  is  dressed  peculiarly,  from
a  medieval  fashion,  his  pronuntiation  is  robust  and  somehow  broken)
Some  secrets  will  always  remain  untold.  Some  other  undiscovered  even.  Some
are  reveiled.  Are  you  the  dragon  person?  No?  ….  Have  you  seen  him?  No?  ….
You  know,  it’s  the  women…  If  they  go  crazy,  they  return  with  the  dragon….It’s
our  fault…  not  man  enough  …  World  needs  strong  leaders  …  do  you  want  to
save  it?  the  World?    …  good  for  you  …  all  I  have  for  you  is  a  dead  dragon    …  I’m
sorry  …  Balaur  Bondoc  …  dinozaur  theropod  din  cretaceu  …  uite  aici,  si  aici,  si
aici    …  pentru  mine  poate  e  prea  târziu  dar  calea  de  urmat  nu  e  in  pamant,  e  in
cer
[îi   pune   spectatorului   sub   nas   o   oglindă,   cu   care   acesta   va   trebui   să   meargă
mai   departe   ghidându-‐se   după   un   drum   pe   tavan/în   aer,   fără   să   își   vadă
picoarele.   Drumul   pe   tavan   devine   fluorescent   –   dacă   maze-‐ul   e   amplasat
afară  se  va  găsi  altă  soluție]

VII.   (5   minutes)   DECE(N)EU   (at   the   center   of   the   maze   the   audience   meets   a
completely  silent  character  that  is  playing  a  mirror  game  with  the  participant.
The   participant   sees   half   of   his   /her   face   overlapping   with   half   of   the
character’s  face,  compositions  of  eyes,  nose,  mouth  based  on  self-‐refection  in
the  mirror  and  the  actual  face  of  the  character.  At  the  end  of  this  game,  the
character’s  face  is  completely  covered  –  black  stockings-‐like  material  –  and  the
character  starts  singing  while  slowly  blindfolding  the  participant.

VIII.   (5   minutes)   UNSEEN   (the   participant   gets   out   of   the   maze   through   a
sensory   installation.   In   the   beginning   someone   guides   the   participant   and
draws   an   invisible   tattoo   on   his/her   hand.   After   that   someone   comforts   the
participant   with   a   furlike   cloth   and   gives   him   a   cup   of   tea   to   sip   from   while
placing   headphones   on   his/her   ears   again.   The   sounds   are   either   ambiental,
either  a   replica   of  the  radio   show  from  the  beginning  –  a  fake  radio  podcast
about  self/  philosophers

IX.  (10  minutes)  THE  NEW  AGE  (a  childlike/  young  woman  like  character  marks
the  exit  from  the  maze.  Takes  the  headphones  off,  lays  the  participant  down,
creates   a   sensory   experience   which   connects   stones   with   emotions   and
chakras.   For   example   COURAGE   –   MANIPURA   –   AMBER/CITRINE,   LOVE   –
ANAHATA   –   AVENTURINE/GREEN   TOURMALINE,   etc   After   this,   depending   on
the   space   sequence   chosen   during   the   preparation   week,   another   character
can   take   over   the   participants   and   run   with   him/her   blindfolded   through   trees
or   people.   Or   the   experience   of   embracing   a   tree   or   unknown   person   while
blindfolded  /  or  the  experience  of  swing  chair  and/or  zipline  will  be  available.

X.  EXIT  /  IS  THIS  LIVE?
(the  participant  is  deposited  in  a  safe  space  –  can  be  a  cabin  –  whith  a  camera
connected  to  a  screen,  papers,  colours,  chalk,  markers  available.

SOME  THINGS  ARE  BETTER  LEFT  UNTOLD.
SOME  OTHERS  ARE  WORTH  SHARING.
IS  THIS  LIVE?

is   visibly   written   on   a   wall.   other   directions   are   also   written,   giving   the
participant   the   option   of   going   live   and   sharing   their   experience   either   on
TELEKOM   page/   UNTOLD   facebook   page,   their   personal   page,   or   just
recorded.  Alternatively,  they  can  simply  write  or  draw  feedback  on  papers  or
directly  on  the  floor,  transforming  the  cabin/space  in  a  feedback  item.
